VPN and Outlook- Can They Work Together Without Problems

I have Office 365 Premium. Does it come with a VPN?

Or does Premium provide protection similar to a VPN?

If not what VPNs brand would you recommend that will work well with Outlook?

I have read that Outlook has issues with VPNs. Is this true?

Outlook | Windows | Classic Outlook for Windows | For home

You mentioned that 365 Office Premium provides various protections such as Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence | Microsoft Security, advanced security and cyberthreat protection. How do I check to see that all these protections are in place?

As for the VPN, I do not have a VPN provider and there are so many out there, it is difficult to know if any of the services are truly compatible with Outlook. Microsoft should provide either (1) its own VPN as part of their premium package, as this seems to be a vital and fundamental protection or (2) some guidance as to what providers are compatible with their product. After all, I am paying for premium service and this important protection would seem to be essential. For me and I suspect for many of your customers, these are issues beyond the scope of our abilities, thus we are relying on Microsoft to protect us. This gap in coverage for VPN protection is something Microsoft needs to address.

I am looking for protection from my Premium service and guidance to solve this problem for me.

Hello Steven J Fromm & Associates,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community. We will be happy to assist you.

Yes, VPN and Outlook can work together without problems. Office 365 Premium does not come with a VPN, but it does provide some security features that can help protect your data like advanced security and cyberthreat protection Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence | Microsoft Security.

    .

However, if you need to use a VPN for additional security or to access certain resources, you can use any VPN brand that is compatible with your operating system.

Regarding the issues with Outlook and VPNs, it is true that some VPNs may cause problems with Outlook. This is because some VPNs may block certain ports or protocols that Outlook uses to connect to the mail server. To avoid these issues, you can try using a VPN that allows you to configure the settings to allow Outlook to work properly, for this, you can check with your VPN provider if supports Outlook as I have not found a Microsoft-recommended VPN for Microsoft products. Alternatively, you can also try using Outlook on the Web (OWA) instead of the desktop application while connected to the VPN.

We are looking forward to your update. Thank you for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
