How can I access an msn email address?

I need access to this address for business with my mobile phone contract provider but I do not remember any passwords or security answers I used as I made this account nearly two decades ago.

It seems like the account still exists since I can attempt to log in as well as answer the security question but since I do not remember either of those I am stuck. I have also attempted to use the recovery request using a current email address but I apparently cannot provide enough accurate information for that to work.

Do I have any options?

    Hello IfritA41,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I am a Microsoft user just like you, I hope you are doing well.

I am sorry for the inconvenience. I understand that you need to regain access to the account.

However, the account recovery process is the last resort that requires you to prove ownership by answering a few questions that only the account owner can answer.

If you are unable to provide answers to be verified, you may consider creating a new account as the system won't grant you access. You need to understand that you are dealing with an automated system designed to protect your account and its contents.

I will suggest you keep trying with Account Recovery Form as it is the only way you can restore access to your account. Use the information you have and follow the tips provided below.

Note that even if you contact Microsoft support, you will still be redirected to recovery form as they can't do more than you can do for yourself with the account recovery form. They don't have the ability to send you password reset links or provide you with ways to access or change account details.

You can submit Account Recovery Form up to two times per day using a device you have used to access your account before and from a similar location. Do this if you find more information or remember something else about your account that will help.

The recovery form is available at https://account.live.com/acsr

    Helpful tips

    1. Answer as many questions as possible. If you’re not sure, guessing is ok — wrong answers don’t count against you. When you get to a question that lets you “add more," fill in as much information as you are able.
    2. Use the information you created when you created your account or when it was last updated.
    3. Submit the information from a computer that you use regularly.
    4. You will be asked to list the email addresses you have used recently and the subject lines of emails you have recently received. Ask family, friends, or business contacts for help in verifying their email addresses and for the subject lines of the last three emails they sent you.
    5. Make sure you're using the correct domain for your account, such as hotmail.com, live.com or xbox360.com. Remember that your email address may be country specific. For example, if you created your account in Germany, your domain would probably be "hotmail.de" rather than "hotmail.com".

Easily over a decade ago. I would not have needed anything in there other than recent emails sent by my mobile service provider.

I already figured it out based on the previous reply but thanks for confirming there is nothing to be done.

When did you last log into the mailbox?

If you don't log in at least once a year, the account is inactive and purged - everything it in was deleted - and the only way to recover it is if you have the password - resetting the password won't work because you can't answer any of the questions about recent mail.

IfritA41, to regain access, you will need to produce information to provide you are to owner of the account using the Account Recovery form.

Microsoft takes account security very seriously and while an alternative verification method may be helpful, the account recovery form is the only available option (last resort) to regain access to your account.

Making a new account would not help since I need access to this one and at this point all I remember is the name/email address. None of the passwords I remember using back then worked either.

Regardless, it seems I am just locked out of the account then, so thanks for confirming.
