Outlook 365 - printing emails : print preview box changed to landscape

The print preview box has changed from portrait to landscape : is this an Outlook change or have I caused it? Emails are shown in portrait in the centre of the landscape preview box but are now smaller and difficult to read. How can the preview box be changed back to portrait as before? Note that emails can be printed in portrait or landscape as required. It's just the preview box problem. I'm using Lenovo IdeaPad S540. Same occurs with all three printers used.

    Hello

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question. It's possible that the print preview box in Outlook 365 has changed from portrait to landscape due to a recent update or a change in your printer settings. You can try changing the orientation of the print preview box back to portrait by following these steps:

    1. Open the email you want to print in Outlook 365 and click on the "File" tab in the top left corner.
    2. Click on "Print" in the left sidebar.
    3. In the "Print" section, click on the "Print Options" button.
    4. In the "Print" dialog box, click on the "Page Setup" button at the bottom of the window.
    5. In the "Page Setup" dialog box, click on the "Paper" tab.
    6. Under "Orientation", select "Portrait" and click "OK".
    7. Click "OK" again to close the "Print" dialog box.

This should change the orientation of the print preview box back to portrait. If you're still having trouble, you can try checking your printer settings to make sure that the default orientation is set to portrait.

    I hope this helps!

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question.

Thanks for reply but there is no problem printing portrait or landscape - the problem is that the print preview box for some as yet undiscovered reason has changed to landscape even when printing portrait so portrait document is too small on screen and difficult to proof read. Another post today reports same problem. Thanks anyway for your interest.

I checked for any recent changes for printing landscape or portrait and I am not immediately seeing any. Are you using standard paper sizes? I see discussion in some bugs that Outlook/Word has some checks that if it's a paper the printer supports, internally, Outlook will use the portrait/landscape of the paper. I also tested on several test machines and I see portrait by default for recent emails I tried to print. It would probably help to determine any consistencies between the users seeing the issue in case there is a common factor. Below are the settings I tested with.

    Dear Adeyemi,

Thanks for immediate reply. Steps 1 - 7 have no effect on the landscape print preview box. In printer preferences all default options are set to portrait. No effect either. Can you find out whether this is an Outlook change, not user controlled?

    Tks/regds.

I have checked and I have seen none, we can look forward to any latest update on this soon.

Here are a few more things you can try:

    1. Check your printer settings: Make sure that your printer settings in the system preferences are set to portrait. Sometimes, these settings can override the settings in individual applications.
    2. Reset Outlook preferences: You can try resetting your Outlook preferences to their default settings. To do this, close Outlook, hold down the Option key on your keyboard, and then click on the Outlook icon in the Dock to open the Microsoft Database Utility. Click on "Main Identity" and then click on "Rebuild".
