How to stop junk and phishing mail on outlook.com

I'm getting tons of junk and phishing emails daily, ones that are obviously junk.

I keep marking them as junk and phishing attempts and even though they are easy to group based on title and content, I still keep getting them.

I would think Outlook.com would learn that they are junk, even on an app level but that doesn't happen and makes my email unusable.

Note that this does not happen on gmail which has great junk email detection and monitoring.

Anyway to help Outlook remove junk mail?

Thanks,

Amit

I have also noticed a huge increase in spam reaching my outlook.com inbox in recent weeks, even though I have "only trust email from addresses in my safe senders and domains list and safe mailing lists" option ticked, and I have added the junk mail address to the junk email list which should also block it from reaching my inbox. Any ideas?

    Hello,

My name is Jackson and thank you for your question.

So sorry for the problem you are experiencing with unwanted emails, I am also a user myself and understand how frustrating this is.

The Spam issues with outlook is a know issue as several users have experienced increase in spam messages getting through the outlook filter and this has been reported to the Microsoft team and we await an update to get this fixed soon, however we can take few steps on our path to mitigate the issue.

If you use the Outlook application, you can change the protection level in the spam filter to make it more aggressive or automatically delete spam; https://support.microsoft.com/office/e89c12d8-9d61-4320-8c57-d982c8d52f6b

If you continue to receive spam messages, you can reduce spam messages by blocking senders. In situations when blocking senders does not work or you do not see senders email, creating rules that filter certain keywords and moving emails flagged to junk would help.

Other options to help keep spam or unwanted email out of your inbox

    1. Blocks all unknown senders
    2. Create a rule to delete unwanted emails.
    3. Hide your email address
    4. Ignore spam or instant messages
    5. Improve PC security
    6. Unsubscribe from newsletters and campaigns
    7. Share your emails with only people you know
