    Hi Shalom,

Thank you for your response. I am afraid I can't get past step 2 in your instructions. When I click on the "Home" tab nothing happens i.e there is no selection for a "Move" group or anything else for that matter. Please note that I am using Chromium on a Linux Ubuntu machine. Do you have any other suggestions to overcome this?

    Thank you

    Omer

If you are using Chrome you are accessing the account at https://outlook.live.com

Shalom_409 posted advice for Office Outlook, the installed program.

When accessing an outlook.com account on the web, you cannot create a rule that will do anything in the Junk folder. Rules will only work in the Inbox.

    Hello OmerK(2),

I'm Shalom and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

Here's how you can create a rule for your Junk Email folder:

    1. Open Microsoft Outlook and go to your Inbox.
    2. Click on the "Home" tab in the ribbon at the top.
    3. Click on "Rules" in the "Move" group, and then select "Manage Rules & Alerts."
    4. In the "Rules and Alerts" dialog box, click on "New Rule."
    5. In the "Start from a blank rule" section, choose "Apply rule on messages I receive" and click "Next."
    6. If you want this rule to apply to all emails in the Junk Email folder, leave all the conditions unchecked and click "Next." If you want to set specific conditions, you can do so here.
    7. In the "What do you want to do with the message?" section, check "move it to the specified folder."
    8. Click on the underlined "specified" link in the "Edit the rule description" section.
    9. In the "Rules and Alerts" dialog box, select your Junk Email folder and click "OK."
    10. Click "Next."
    11. You can add exceptions if needed, or you can click "Next" to skip this step.
    12. Give your rule a name, such as "Move Junk Email," and choose whether you want to run this rule on existing messages in your Inbox or Junk Email folder. Click "Finish."
    13. Review your rule settings in the "Rules and Alerts" dialog, and click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your rule.

    Best Regards, Shalom
