The Insert Symbol Feature has disappeared in the New Outlook

Hello! It is Sept 2023 and I have just started using Outlook and did click on the "New Outlook" button. Now I find I can insert Emojis but CANNOT INSERT SYMBOLS, like diacritical marks etc. To clarify, yes, it is easy to insert symbols but what I am looking for it is enter UNICODE symbols. For example, in Word, if I type 0100 followed by Alt-X, I get Ā. I can type in Alt Codes, for example Alt-0196 creates Ä. But the lack of the ability to do UNICODE entry is what is lacking.

Thanks, everyone, for the input. We need to close this thread as there is no solution for the lack of Unicode entry into Outlook.

    Hi Raja,

    Thanks for contacting us,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with inserting symbols in the new Outlook.:

    • Place your cursor in the email at the spot where you want to insert the symbol.
    • Go to **Insert** > **Symbol**.
    • Pick a symbol, or choose **More Symbols**.
    • Scroll up or down to find the symbol you want to insert.
    • Click **Insert** and then close the dialog box.

If you don't see the **Symbol** option under the **Insert** tab, you may need to double click on the email to open it in a new window, then click **Reply**. Then it will open a new window to let you compose the email. Under this circumstance, you should have the **Insert** button and insert the symbols.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards, Sola

I am disappointed that Microsoft has once again taken away something that most of us use--the symbols function. I guess I will have to go back to the "old" Outlook. I don't understand why MS thinks they know better than their customers. Everything "new" I've seen has done nothing but cause problems. I have a lot of names that use symbols in them as they are European and have an accent over a vowel as an example. Never had a problem in the past and now not having it is causing lots of problems.

Please reinstate the symbols function and leave things alone. As the old saying goes; "if it aint broke, don't fix it"! In this case, you broke it, now fix it....please!

Issue: Outlook Email missing - Insert / Symbol (when creating, reply, forwarding message)

    Dear Microsoft Folks,

Could you point us toward a solution? I have the same issue & question as Raja_B.

"On another window I have clicked on "new mail" with the latest Outlook. On the top are Message, Insert, Format Text and Options. If I click on Insert, I get these choices: Attach file, Link, Signature, Pictures, Emojis and Tables. But NO choice of symbols."

Printscreen below of my options (described by Raja 09/13/23)

    Thank you.

    I kinda found a workaround:

Open Word | Microsoft 365 - apply the ***Symbol*** font to the letter you need,

then copy pasta into the Outlook place you need.

BUT WE SHOULDN' T HAVE TO DO IT THIS WAY!!!

IT'S STUPID! PUT THE SYMBOL FONT BACK INTO OUTLOOK YOU GOOFBALLS!!
