Problems accessing Telstra Bigpond email with new outlook

I have always been able o access my Telstra Bigpond email through Outlook however when the new Outlook updated It required me to enter the IMAP details all of which I did but it would not bring up the "Continue" option. I tried opening another account with the same details but it tells me it cannot find a work or education email with that address (it is a private one). I thought Outlook might still be on an educational version I bought many years ago so updated the computer with my 365 subscription. Still wouldn't let me enter the IMAP details and now when I try and add another new account it tells me that I don't have an Outlook account when I am already logged into that account. Desperate for suggestions please. TIA.

    Hello! SteveC2023

    Thank you for the reply

That's good news! We are happy that the issue has been resolved and it got resolved by reverting back to the Windows Mail app instead of the New Outlook for Windows. So, it would seem that it can be that the issue is within the supported email domain since New Outlook for Windows is still very new and still improving its usage and performance for all users.

If you have any suggestions, feedback and ideas please feel free to share them in: Send feedback to Microsoft with the Feedback Hub app - Microsoft Support for the New Outlook for Windows, as our developers will continue to improve the application.

To help other customers searching for help on related issues, please feel free to mark the response you found most helpful by clicking “Yes” on the bottom of that post. This will ensure the helpful responses are most visible when searching (and you can vote more than once if the solution was spread over multiple posts).

    Thanks again for choosing Microsoft!

    Sincerely,

    Vince

I have recently purchased the new microsoft office as I needed teams, only to find out its not supported by personal email such as bigpond. So any company that send me a meeting request, when accepting it wont save my meeting to any calender and then the email disappears. So I have no trace of the teams information, meeting times or codes.

    This is so frustrating 😤

also trying to use the new Outlook email setup and it ask for outlook IPAM from bigpond.

Contacted telstra they tell its a Microsoft issue.

I find this all overwhelming and already lost hours trying to work this all out.

Many thanks. Yes they are the settings I was using. I had 2 different Microsoft techs working on it for over an hour each and neither could resolve it so they ended up just reverting back to the old version of Outlook. Microsoft Mail could receive the messages from Bigpond but Outlook couldn't import them. However more recently the old version of outlook migrated to the new version and is working well. Must have just been a bug in the earlier version.

Thanks Vince. I couldn't resolve it so did a 30 minute chat with support. They took remote control but also were unable to resolve it. They have asked me to contact Telstra support to obtain the correct server settings. Both and support and I have been entering the correct settings as they appear on the Telstra website. I'll pursue it with Telstra tomorrow.

Further to that. I just went back into Outlook and selected the Bigpond account and it then synced all of my messages. It looks like whatever the agent did fixed the problem just neither he nor I realized it. And I take that back. While it was open I could see all the Bigpond messages. I closed Outlook and reopened it but I am back at the same problem. It asks me to enter the IMAP details but will not allow me to continue. It must be able to access the server because if a Bigpond email arrives while Outlook is open I see the notification in the text box in the bottom right. It just won't let me open the account to read it.
