It seems that there's an on-going bug regarding the sync error, as some users who have connected accounts encounters the same issue as well. Diane Poremsky suggested reporting this to Outlook.com support for the developers to be notified and get it addressed as soon as possible.
To do so, log into Outlook.com on the web using a PC or Mac. If you log in from a mobile device, you need to use the desktop site. Click the ? icon on the Help tab to open the Help menu. As of the moment, there is no ETA for the fix yet from the dedicated team.
