I am missing emails older than 2 years in outlook.

I have Office 365, and I had emails stored in folders. I looked in some of the older folders and anything that is 2 years old gets deleted/archived/something. They are nowhere to be found. I am not missing very important emails. I can't find them in archive folder. I don't see them in deleted. 1) Is there anyway to locate these emails but most importantly 2) how do I stop this from happening in the future.

    Hi everyone,

in our case a quick support ticket shed some light into this matter.

Without anyone in our company knowing, it seems that Microsoft moves mails older than 2 years to the online archive.

It is shown as a separate folder structure in Outlook and OWA.

Maybe have a look in there.

    Yours,

    Jonas

    Dear

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist!

Based on your description regarding "I am missing emails older than 2 years in outlook." May I know if you are using New Outlook or Classic Outlook? If you are using New Outlook for Windows kindly try to revert back to classic Outlook Toggling out of the new Outlook for Windows preview - Microsoft Support then make sure that Download email for the past set to all. To check this kindly open classic Outlook, go to File tab, click Account Settings, and then click Account Settings-->On the E-mail tab, double-click your Microsoft Exchange account--> In the Change Account dialog box, drag the Mail to keep offline slider to the desired number of months or to All to synchronize all email messages.

    .

If the issue persist, would you mind offering me below information:

    • May I please confirm that you get same situation in both outlook for Desktop and Outlook on Web (https://outlook.office.com)?
    • May I confirm that you get same behavior when you try to search this email in search box?
    • May I know the account type are you using? Is it IMAP, Pop or Exchange account?
    • Would you mind providing the screenshot which shows the outlook version you are using? to check this kindly go to File-->Office Account

We are looking forward to your response!

    Best regards,

I followed the same, but I can't find emails older than 2 years. And I keep losing old emails every day.
