Copilot for Outlook not showing/working on Mac

Hello everyone,

I've just bought the new Copilot for Office 365. After waiting a little bit so all services can update to the latest subscription everything works fine online and on the Mac with Word, PowerPoint and Excel. However, Outlook wasn't showing anything. So, I checked the web and noticed that I need to switch to the new Outlook version/view. I waited a while now and still there is no Copilot in Outlook. Does anyone have an idea or have the same problem?

Version: Microsoft Outlook for Mac 16.82

Many thanks,

Thomas

Hi, I'm Diane and I'm happy to help you today.

If you see it in the other apps, you are signed into OneDrive, so its not that.

Did you Quit and restart Outlook?

Are you in the mailbox that has the copilot subscription? It is only available in that mailbox, not other accounts in your profile.

This is Microsoft article on using Copilot in email: https://support.microsoft.com/office/draft-an-email-message-with-copilot-in-outlook-3eb1d053-89b8-491c-8a6e-746015238d9b#OSVersion=macOS

Let me know how it goes, I'm here to help you further if needed.

The @outlook.com mailbox is just a dead mailbox I never used.

A lot of people use it like that... but some features are only available in that mailbox (not just copilot.). Sorry.

Anyway, I guess then there is no option to use it with my most used GMail mailbox then, is there?

No, not easily. You would need to add the outlook.com account to Outlook then compose with the outlook.com address selected in the from field and change it to Gmail before sending. If you do this, I would not add the recipients until after finishing the email and changed the From, so you don't accidently send it from outlook.com. for replies, write in a blank message and copy and paste.

There is NOTHING in the subscription materials about saying that co-pilot is not available in Outlook. On the Mac page Outlook is prominently there - so this is very confusing. Using the co-pilot for Outlook is the number 1 reason I purchased the subscription.

I also purchased CoP and had the same question. I spoke to MS Support about that and the response I got was that CoP for Mac was available in the paid enterprise versions now, and rolling out to consumer versions "soon." Neither the rep nor their supervisor were able to say what "soon" meant.

Chalk it up to poor planning on MS's part. Yes, it is available in the Windows version of Consumer Office, no it is not available in the Mac version, yet. (The support rep actually told me to use the Windows version... :) ).

FWIW, the feature is available in the online versions of the apps, just not in the Mac (installed) versions, yet.

I cancelled my CoPilot subscription as I don't tend to use the web versions of the Office apps a lot.
