Why does Microsoft Outlook keep asking for Password

Why does Microsoft Outlook keeps constantly asking for Password. I even had to change my password thinking it would help. It didn't. Even after I enter password, still continues prompting me to enter password. Just does not go away. And it is also affecting my account with Spectrum Roadrunner to perform other functions that I was able to do without having to enter a password. This problem just recently started and Spectrum can't help since it's a Microsoft issue causing the problem. Tried to get help by calling Microsoft by using the recommended website since I'm unable to get a live person to talk to, but the website Microsoft is directing to go for HELP wants to charge a Fee plus a monthly fee. We purchased Microsoft. Didn't use to have this issue

Nope, all of these options did not helped me. Still I get prompts from Outlook to submit the password each time I open it. Other accounts in Outlook dont ask for the same.

I would like to refer to Your point 3: "Disable the Always prompt for login option: Open Outlook and navigate to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Select your email account and click Change. Click More Settings, then navigate to the Security tab. Uncheck the box next to Always prompt for login credentials and click OK." - in my case all these settings are "grey"/ cannot do anything about it. I cannot change it. On the other hand the box is uncheck, so thats not the issue.

I started to have these prompts without any actions from my side.

We purchased/installed Microsoft Windows 10 HOME in 2020 (Windows Feature Experience Pack, whatever that means. Only once did we have this similar issue a year or two after purchase. Fortunately, a live person with Microsoft resolved the problem; however we began having this problem approx. two weeks ago, when we used OUTLOOK to send an email. I normally NEVER use OUTLOOK to send emails but when I have, I never encountered any problems. Something changed that caused this problem, whether it was an update, who knows, but my provider cannot help fix the problem because it's a problem with Microsoft, which they refer to third party.

I did follow the instructions in my computer provided by Microsoft when I clicked on HELP, as well as the instructions provided by Microsoft email in OUTLOOK but neither of them helped fix the problem. It doesn't allow me to make any changes/edit, It's in light print and it shows box is checked where it reads: "Encrypt Data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchanged. The other box is not checked where it reads: "Always prompt for login credentials."

Additionally, even after I asked for NEW password, since it was no longer accepting our old password, it didn't resolve the problem. As soon as I open Microsoft Outlook, it prompts me to enter password. However, no sooner do I enter password, it immediately prompts me again to enter password....it NEVER goes away. I tried closing it without entering password again, but that doesn't work.....So annoying. I noticed that if I don't enter password, even though as I mentioned, I really don't use OUTLOOK to send emails, it does affect some functions in my other email account like allowing me to use "RULES." It would say I'm working "off-line" even though I reconnected.

I also started having issues with getting disconnected and working "off line" more often but luckily Googled how to fix the problem. Just wish it didn't happen so often. And I noticed my configuration was changed where now Microsoft Edge is my search engine vice Google.

I don't want to have to pay a FEE or become a member to fix this problem. And I appreciate your email in trying to help me resolve this problem, but instructions didn't resolve the problem since I don't have access to make any changes. I also don't want to have to continue to reply by using a platform. Prefer speaking to a live person.

Half of the suggestions offered don't work because the navigation path you've suggested don't exist.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

It saddens me to hear that you’re having trouble with Microsoft Outlook. This issue can be caused by a variety of factors, including incorrect login credentials, outdated software, or a corrupted Outlook profile. Let me do my best to help. Just to set your expectations, we have limited tools to check your account, subscription, and service details in the community.

    Let me ask you this:

    • Can I find out which version and edition of Office is installed on your computer?
      • You can open any Office app
      • Go to File > accounts – on the right-hand side, you can see the product information
    • May we know if you currently using Outlook classic or new outlook for windows?

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Remove your credentials from the Credentials Manager: Open the Control Panel and navigate to User Accounts > Credential Manager. Under Windows Credentials, locate any entries for Outlook and click Remove. Restart Outlook and enter your login credentials again.
    2. Enable the Remember Password option: Open Outlook and navigate to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Select your email account and click Change. Check the box next to Remember password and click Next. Enter your password and click Finish.
    3. Disable the Always prompt for login option: Open Outlook and navigate to File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Select your email account and click Change. Click More Settings, then navigate to the Security tab. Uncheck the box next to Always prompt for login credentials and click OK.
    4. Create and use a new Outlook profile: Open the Control Panel and navigate to Mail > Show Profiles. Click Add and follow the prompts to create a new profile. Once created, select the new profile and click Set as default. Restart Outlook and enter your login credentials again.Overview of Outlook e-mail profiles - Microsoft Support
    5. Update your Outlook version: Make sure you have the latest version of Outlook installed. To check for updates, open Outlook and navigate to File > Office Account > Update Options. Click Update Now and follow the prompts.
    6. Launch Outlook in Safe Mode: Press and hold the CTRL key while clicking on the Outlook icon to launch it in Safe Mode. This will disable any add-ins that may be causing the issue. Open Outlook in safe mode - Microsoft Support

Let me know further concerns so I can help more.
