When you create a new account and there is no option to choose a hotmail.co.nz domain, then Microsoft is no longer offering that as an option.

If you've got your own domain, then you can consider using Microsoft 365 for Business (or Microsoft 365 Exchange Online) as an alternative so you can use your own domain for sending and receiving emails as well. The web based version is very similar to Outlook.com.

Microsoft is phasing out the Hotmail brand and it is no longer possible to add it as an alias to an existing account.

To still create a Microsoft Account with a Hotmail address, you'll need to create a new account.

Obtaining a country specific Hotmail address requires you to reside in that country (or at least IP wise). However, they are no longer offered in every country. In that case, you can still get a hotmail.com address.

Is there any specific reason to obtain a country specific Hotmail address instead of an outlook.com or hotmail.com address?
