Receiving error code 2002 when logging into outlook on a DoD computer- HP Probook 650 G8. Computer updated to Windows 11 and that’s when the error started to pop up. Attempt to re-add users profile using the windows + R prompt “outlook /profiles” however the error still prevails. Can access webmail perfectly fine, just can’t login into the Outlook Application without receiving the 2002 error code.

Attached is the latest instant of the error.

This error is due to your cached credentials. I would assume you received a new CAC (aka new credentials). I found the following to work.

    Quit OneDrive

    Close all applications.

Open Word. From the main tab, go to "Account" > Select "Sign out."

In the search bar, type in "Internet Options" > "Content" tab > "Certificates" > Delete the old CAC certs. (if unsure which ones are new, check expiration date or delete them all and unplug and reinsert CAC)

In the search bar, type "Credential Manager" > Select "Windows Credentials" > under "Generic credentials", remove any Microsoft OneDrive cookies.

Delete the "Cache" folder in the following location: C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\OneDrive\

    Using the run command (Windows Key + R) : input the following command. C:\Program Files\Microsoft OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

    Login to Outlook and OneDrive.

    Note:

    1. Not tested yet, but when you get a new CAC, you can ask for your old certs to be loaded or kept. This could avoid this whole issue.
    2. Not tested yet, but users could possibly recover their old certs as well and load them onto the machine potentially correcting the issue.
    3. Deleting the local profile on the system will fix the error as well.

    Hello,

Have you tried to repair Office?

    Repair Office

Repair the Outlook application: Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Microsoft 365 > Change > Quick Repair. If the issue persists, try the Online Repair option.

If this doesn't work it could be the Windows user profile causing the issue. Try to create a new Windows user profile.

If the problem persists, I'd recommend reinstalling Windows to clear up any lingering profile issues.
