Lost emails from iPhone

Has this happened anyone else and if so was you able to recover your emails?

I have an iPhone and I was deleting marking emails from my hotmail account via the mail I received yesterday and all of a sudden emails started getting deleted and I lost emails from August 2023 to the most recent. I checked my bin and found them all in there so I selected them all (round 3000) to move back to my inbox and now they are no where to be seen. I’ve lost some important emails.

Please help!

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for writing us here in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are in a difficult situation considering that you've lost your valuable emails. When you deleted an email and restored it from the deleted items folder, by design, the email should be move back to the original folder or location where it was originally stored. For example, if you deleted emails from a manually created folder, the emails should be moved back to that folder after you restore it from the deleted folder.

Let's go ahead and find some locations where they are possibly saved.

I'd like to ask the following details.

    1. Can you log in to outlook.live.com and check if you can see your emails there?
    2. Have you open all folders and subfolders to check if the emails might be hidden on a subfolders?
    3. Have you tried searching for the subject of the emails to see if it will find a result?
    • It would be best if you will do all these isolations on the web version of Outlook on your PC for easier navigation.

Before we continue, it's important to note that Microsoft has limited resources involving data loss because they may be caused by uncontrollable factors such as this one. Nevertheless, I will walk you through some steps in potentially locating or recovering the data you are contacting us about. Should they still be present on your machine, I assure you that we can recover them; however, should it be otherwise, the least I could do is to provide you some pieces of advice in preventing such predicament from happening again. Here are some steps you can try.

Note: Please use Outlook web on your PC while doing all the steps below to match on our given description.

    1. Open all folders and subfolder. Sign in to outlook.live.com on your browser on your PC and expand all the folders in your account and check the emails if they are moved back to the original folder location.
    • You can click the little arrow before the folder icon to view the subfolders. See Image to Image.
    1. Check the " Recover deleted from this folder " folder. If in case the emails were deleted from the deleted items folder instead of the restoring them, you can still check the Recover deleted from this folder as deleted emails from the Deleted Items folder will be moved to this location. Here's how to check.
    2. Sign in to https://outlook.office.com/mail/deleteditems with your email.
    3. Click the Recover deleted from this folder on the top, see image below. Image
    4. Highlight and select all the emails from there, right click, and choose Restore. Emails should be moved now to the original folders.
    5. Contact Outlook In-App support. If performing all these steps still doesn't help, consider contacting experts form Outlook.com so they can help you with their advance tools. They should be the one to further guide you on the next steps. Check this article for your guidance on how to reach them: How to get support for Outlook.com - Microsoft Support

These are the options that I have for you today, Lisa! I hope this would help! Let me know if you have question or clarifications.

    Sincerely,

    Froilance T.
