Remove Alias and Recover my Original Email Account

I have been trying to remove my alias so I can retrieve my emails along with my junk email. The instructions states:

"Add, remove or update an email address or phone number If you want to make changes to the email addresses or phone numbers associated with your Microsoft account, use our guided support tool below to help you update the right information in the right way."

These instructions do not work. It will not let me remove the alias unless I enter another one. The others instructions emailed to me did not work. Why would you put out untested instructions 🤔? Do you realize the amount of frustration Microsoft is causing with dead end instructions?

    Hello Beverly,

Thank you for posting here in Microsoft Community.

Basing on the description you have posted, you are trying to remove an alias on your Microsoft account to recover your emails. I'd be more than glad to assist you on this, but for me to have a better view of your concern, I'd like to ask few questions:

    • May I confirm if which article are you referring that states this instruction, please?

To remove an alias on your Outlook.com account, please follow these steps:

    1. Go to Outlook.com and sign in to your account.
    2. Click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner of the screen.
    3. Select "View account" from the dropdown menu.
    4. On the Account Information page, click on "Manage how you sign in to Microsoft".
    5. Under the "Account aliases" section, find the alias you want to remove and click on "Remove".
    6. Follow the prompts to confirm the removal of the alias.

Please note that if the alias you want to remove is your primary email address, you will need to add a new primary alias or set another primary alias before you can remove the old one. To know more you can check this article as reference: Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com - Microsoft Support.

I hope this information helps! I am looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,

    Arquel C.
