I lost my Contacts on my iPhone when I deleted the Exchange the other day. I thought they were backed up on my Microsoft account. Can you please help me. Tried iCloud backup but didn’t fix it.

    Hello,

I am experiencing the same issue. When I say "Exchange," I believe that means the Exchange Server. I am referring to the type of email account that it was listed as when adding the email to my iPhone.

    Here's my situation:

    • I had a work email/calendar that was put on my phone when I worked for an old employer (listed as Exchange)
    • I left that job in February of 2016.
    • I realized earlier today that this calendar was still among my other calendars listed, so I went to delete it.
           - When I went to delete it, it listed all the categories that would be deleted and asked if I still wanted to go ahead and delete the account. The Contacts category WAS toggled on when I confirmed to delete that account, but I stupidly assumed that it would only delete contacts that were linked to that email address (i.e. when I worked at QPS Employment, any contacts I added while in that email account).

    • It deleted a bunch of contacts that I added to my phone long after I left that employer (ex. my husband's contact and we met 4 1/2 years after I stopped using that email account, and my coworker whose contact info was added only two years ago). And my contacts ARE set to backup via iCloud.

    What I've tried:

    * I tried to restore contacts through icloud.com

    * I tried restoring from SIM

    * I tried rebooting my phone after each attempt

HELP!!! How the HECK did this happen and how do I FIX IT?!?!?!

    Hi,

I appreciate the time and effort you spent on replying to my message.

The issue might because you have your Contacts synced to your Apple ID and lost it when you changed it. I was able to extend my research in Apple community and was able to check this thread Please help me restore all my contacts - Apple Community. This thread contains steps on how to recover contacts from old Apple ID. Please take some time checking the link the moderator provided on the thread I provided.

    Sincerely,

    Leonardo_Y

    Hi,

Using outlook.com from the app on my phone iPhone.

I’ve also logged in via the web & it doesn’t look like I have any contacts saved.

It started because I removed an old phone number from my Apple ID & at that point my contact disappeared from my phone.

I used to sometimes get a message pop up saying to log in to the exchange server for an old email address I had with my previous employer.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Adam

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand the importance of recovering your contacts as soon as possible. Let's work on this together in finding the best possible solution to this issue.

To better understand the situation, I would like to ask some questions, such as:

    • What email domain are you using? ex. Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, etc.
    • Are you using the Outlook.com in the web or Outlook application?
    • When you say Exchange, are you referring to the Exchange Server?

I know how urgent this matter is, but for us to come up with the possible troubleshooting, I would like to these pieces of information first.

    Sincerely,

    Leonardo_Y
