  1. On my Acer, I cannot open Outlook email that I have stored on my desktop or in “My Documents” on Google Drive (though I used to be able to). These stored email are apparently .msg files. When I try to open a stored email, I get the message “This action isn’t supported yet. The New Outlook for Windows doesn’t currently support this action. You can switch back to Classic Outlook for Windows and try again.” But when I turn off the “New Outlook” tab in the upper right of Outlook, I still cannot open the stored email. I have a similar problem with my MacBook.

    Dear Elsa Torres

Good day! Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community. We'll be happy to help!

First of all, we regret for the inconvenience and inconvenience caused to your work. Based on your description, I have a general understanding of your issue, it seems that you are trying to open .msg files in the New Outlook for Windows, which is not currently supported. To open .msg files, you can switch back to Classic Outlook for Windows by following these steps:

    1. Open Outlook for Windows.
    2. Click on the "File" tab in the top left corner.
    3. Click on "Options" in the left-hand menu.
    4. Click on "General" in the left-hand menu.
    5. Under the "user interface options" section, uncheck the box next to "Optimize for compatibility".

    .

    1. Click on "OK" to save the changes.
    2. Close and reopen Outlook for the changes to take effect.

Actually once you have switched back to Classic Outlook for Windows, you should be able to open .msg files stored on your desktop or in "My Documents" on Google Drive. If you continue to experience issues, please kindly restart your outlook desktop client and then check the result, thanks.

Meanwhile, if you still need further help, please kindly tell me more details(such as the screenshot which includes your outlook version) so that I can do further research and tests, thanks.

Thank you in advance for your understanding. Your patience and cooperation will be greatly appreciated. I hope all the best!

    Sincerely
