I have a very similar situation. I am being prompted to enter a security code sent to an email address, but in my case I do have access to it. This is a @gmail.com address which I use every day, but the security codes never arrive!

To try and work around this I have tried to update my microsoft security settings as instructed in the earlier part of this thread to add another (non gmail) email address, but am blocked from doing this because microsoft wants me to provide the security code it says it is mailing to my @gmail.com address first. It's a catch 22 situation.

Other emails from microsoft are being successfully delivered to this address, including one telling me that I have tried to add my phone number as a security option to my account and will have to wait 30 days before that happens. As far as I can see I have no way to update the security settings before 30 days expire without first obtaining the code that microsoft says is being sent to my gmail address but which never arrives. This is extremely frustrating. Is there any route through this security maze that doesn't involve waiting 30 days?

That's the thing. If i go to my account it has my email and the outlook microsoft provided email only. nothing with Tom.com listed anywhere. but as i said every time i have a security issue Li*****@tom.com is what it trys to send to. i got locked out once and it sent the security question to that. i had to call directly and spoke to a person who said they would remove it but it still shows up. just checked and tom.com is some kind of chinese site. not sure if my account was hacked at some point or what.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

It seems that you're having trouble with an incorrect email address associated with your Microsoft account. Let's work on this together in finding the best possible answerto your concern.

To better understand the situation, I would like to ask some questions, such as:

    • Are you using this email domain for Business or for Personal use only?

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page and click on "Sign in with a different account."
    2. Enter your Microsoft account email address and password.
    3. Once you're signed in, click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner and select "View account."
    4. Under the "Security" tab, click on "More security options."
    5. Scroll down to the "Contact info" section and click on "Add email."
    6. Enter your correct email address and follow the prompts to verify it.
    7. Once your correct email address is added and verified, you can remove the incorrect email address by clicking on the "Remove" button next to it.

I hope this helps. Looking forward for your response soon!

    Sincerely,

    Leonardo_Y
