Thank you....I do not see a "File" tab in the new Outlook, and an option to import/export as there is in the old. Am I missing something?

Outlook New does NOT support .PST files yet. These files currently can only be opened and used with the Classic Outlook Desktop client.

Things to know about the new Outlook for Windows

Outlook New will not be a replacement for Classic Desktop until at least 2029, it has a long way to go.

Agreed, there is no File tab on the new outlook. I can't import the old Data File.

    Hi Puzzled

Greetings! Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I will be happy to help. I am a user just like you and only trying to advice/ assist in the best possible way to resolve your issue.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to migrate your Outlook data files (.pst) to the "New" Outlook on your Windows 11 computer:

A Few Notes Before We Begin:

"New" Outlook Limitations: The "New" Outlook is still evolving and might have a different feature set compared to the traditional Outlook desktop app. Make sure it has the features you rely on before migrating fully. Account Types: If you were using POP3 email accounts in your old Outlook, the "New" Outlook won't be able to directly import those. You'll need to re-add the accounts as IMAP if your email provider supports it.

Steps: Locate Your .pst Files: Ensure you know the location of your copied .pst files from your Windows 10 computer. It's helpful to have them organized in a single folder.

Copy the Files: Transfer the .pst files to your Windows 11 computer. You can use a USB drive, an external hard drive, or a network transfer for this purpose.

Open "New" Outlook: Launch the "New" version of Outlook on your Windows 11 computer.

Account Setup: If you haven't already, set up your email accounts in "New" Outlook. Follow the in-app instructions for adding them, preferably using IMAP if your provider supports it.

Import the .pst File: Click the File tab. Select Open & Export (or sometimes just Open) Choose Import/Export. Select Import from another program or file and press Next. Select Outlook Data File (.pst) and press Next. Browse to the location where you copied your .pst files, select the one you want to import, and press Next. Under Options, it's usually best to select Do not import duplicates (unless you specifically want to) and click Next. Select the folder where you'd like the data imported. To import into your current mailbox, select the top of the mailbox hierarchy. Click Finish. "refer to this Microsoft support article for further guides [ https://support.microsoft.com/office/import-email-contacts-and-calendar-from-an-outlook-pst-file-431a8e9a-f99f-4d5f-ae48-ded54b3440ac ]"

Additional Notes: Multiple .pst files: Repeat the import process for any additional .pst files you want to migrate. Data Location: The imported data will appear within the account structure you selected during the import.

Hope this helps and answer your question. Let me know if you need further clarification or assistance. Give back to the Community. Help the next person who has this issue by indicating if this reply solved your problem. Click Yes or No below. Kind Regards -Adedayo

Is that a response from MS? Does the new Outlook not allow import of exported Notes and Tasks data files?
