I used to be able to preview PDF files in outlook and for some reason it no longer will allow this. I have tried multiple fixes for this but none of them have worked!

This does not work for the new version of Outlook. There is no "File"-->Options."-->"Trust Center". MS has removed way too much of the control that used to be helpful with this new version.

As another has replied...there is no "File"-->Options."-->"Trust Center" in the most up to date version of Classic Outlook that I'm using.

OTOH, I did find a solution.

I am having this problem, but most instructions refer to loading or reinstalling Adobe Reader. I use Adobe Acrobat Pro (64-bit). When I try to load Acrobat Reader, it says it is already loaded, even though it does not show up as a separate program that I can delete and reload.

When I get to the location in Outlook for enabling the preview handler there are two examples, but one is ghosted out. The other is checked. I tried attaching a screenshot in this window, but it does not work. Nor do I see a way to upload the Word document that has both screen shots requested.

I deleted all the temp files you listed in your instruction. I created a separate profile. None of these have resolved the issue.

    HI TLAH2021,

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

Based on your post regarding with "Unable to preview PDF files in Outlook". please try below steps :

    1. check if the PDF previewer is enabled in Outlook trust center settings,
      • Open Microsoft Outlook.
      • Click on "File"-->Options."-->"Trust Center" from the left-hand side and click on the "Trust Center Settings" button.
      • Click on "Attachment Handling" and then "Attachment and Document Previewers."-->Scroll down and make sure that "PDF Preview Handler" is checked. If not, kindly check and (OK) save the changes.

    1. If that is checked and the previewer is not working, kindly try to create a new Outlook profile and check the behavior.
    2. Installing the Latest Version of Adobe Reader.

    4. Deleting Temporary Files

Corruptions and similar issues with the temporary or cache files could be the reason behind the Outlook PDF preview handler error. So, you can try to get rid of temporary files to fix the problem:

    Step 1: Open Outlook.

Step 2: Use "Windows Key + R" to open the Run dialog.

Step 3: Copy the following paths and then paste them into the run dialog respectively:
    %temp%
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\

Step 4: Delete all files or folders in these paths. Of course, make sure to backup them before getting rid of them from your system.

In case the issue persists, kindly let me know of the following.

    1. Are other previewers working correctly without issues? (Word, Excel...)
    2. Please share with me a screenshot of the Adobe and Outlook version you are using. (File-->Office account-->About Outlook). What version of Outlook do I have? - Microsoft Support

This above-requested information is required for further analysis and troubleshooting of your situation. Your patience and cooperation are much appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Community Moderator
