Hi Dionne Davis,
Good day.
Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.
It can be frustrating when your Outlook tasks don’t behave as expected. Let’s troubleshoot this issue together! Here are a few steps you can take to address the problem:
Check Your Time Zone Settings:
- Ensure that your computer’s time zone is correctly set. If it’s off, it might cause discrepancies in task due dates.
- To verify your time zone, go to Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time.
Outlook Web App (OWA) Check:
- Access your tasks via Outlook Web App (OWA) to see if the issue persists there.
- Sometimes, discrepancies occur only in the desktop client.
- If the issue is specific to the desktop client, consider creating a new Outlook profile.
Update Outlook:
- Make sure your Outlook desktop client is up to date.
- If you’re not on the latest version, update it and see if the issue persists.
Task Due Date Adjustment:
- When you create a task and add a due date, the Start Date might also impact the due date.
- To maintain the due date when changing the start date, follow these steps:
- Open the task in its own window by double-clicking on it.
- Click on the Date Picker icon of the Due Date field.
- Hold the SHIFT key and click on the date you want as the new Start Date.
- When done correctly, the Start Date field will update, and the Due Date field will remain the same.
Visualize Due Dates:
- Sometimes, due dates appear incorrectly due to display settings.
- In Outlook 2019, you can adjust the Task Bar to show the Due Date instead of the default “Start By” date.
- Simply drag the Task Bar to the left to expand it, revealing columns like Start Date, Due Date, and Reminder Time
I hope this helps let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions .
Best Regards
