How can I add my Hotmail account back to my Blackberry Hub after deleting it due to authenticaing errors?

I encountered authenticating errors for my Hotmail account on my Blackberry Key 2, an Android phone, starting in late January. While I continued to get emails for quite some time, it finally stopped working around the end of the month. I then decided to remove the Hotmail account and try to add it back. That didn't work. I have posted before but the answers regarding two-step authentication etc. do not make sense to me. They mention Outlook 2013 or 2016. I don't know if I have either. I find this very confusing.

I have found the solution for Android & IOS phones using Blackberry Hub:

    1. Delete your outlook account from blackberry hub
    2. Add again
    3. Choose Manual Setup
    4. Choose IMAP
    5. IMAP SETTINGS :- INCOMMING SETTINGS :

SERVER TYPE : IMAP Mail Server

    SERVER NAME : outlook.office365.com

    PORT :993

USER NAME : YOUR OUTLOOK EMAIL/USER NAME

    SECURITY SETTINGS :-

    CONNECTION TYPE : SSL/TLS

AUTHTICATION METHOD : OAuth2 (OPTIONAL IN SOME CASES)

    OUT GOING SERVER SETTINGS :

    SERVER NAME : smtp.office365.com

    Port : 587

    CONNECTION SECURITY : STARTTLS

AUTHENTICATION METHOD : OAuth2 (AGAIN OPTIONAL IF ASKED FOR)

and you are good to go again.

    Thanking you

    Good Day to all

    Hi Froilance,

Thank you very much for following up. I do appreciate it!

I have been unsuccessful in re-adding Hotmail to my Blackberry hub. I did what you suggested and cleared the cache etc. but, when I reflect on it, I think that was on my Hotmail account outside of the Blackberry hub. I also tried the two-step verification and got an app password which I tried to use in the hub. Again, that did not work. I believe I should be able to get this account back on the hub as I am able to do it for my account at the university when it says my university email account can't be authenticated (also through Microsoft.) I'm not sure whether I need to use Pop, IMAP, Activesync or other options I am offered there and I don't know which servers to use as well as what I should do with the settings. Perhaps you can shed some light on some of these questions. As you might imagine, I find this very frustrating and incredibly time consuming!

Thank you again for your assistance and follow-up.

    Regards,

    Karen

    Hi Karen,

To be more precise, and in case it helps, these are the settings that work to continue to synchronise Microsoft email accounts in BlackBerry Hub. You will need to delete the existing Exchange ActiveSync account first, and re-create it using:

    Manual setup

    Account type: IMAP

    Incoming server: imap-mail.outlook.com

    Port: 993

    Security type: SSL/TLS

    Outgoing server: smtp.office365.com

    Port: 587

    Security type: STARTTLS

As I say, these work just for email. To synchronise calendars, I have had to stop using BlackBerry calendar and started using OneCalendar on my Key2. You will find it in the Play store.

    I hope this helps.

    Luis

Hi Froilance I am having the same problem starting at rhe same time. Froilance to be clear this relates to the blackberry hub not the outlook app as you noted and provided steps for. Please make sure that Info is provided when looking g for a solution. The message I receive starts out with the passowrd not being correct and asking me to provide the password which I do. Then it asks for me to update my settings but I am not sure what I shoukd be updating. Very frustrating

    Thank you. Heidi

    Hi Froilance,

Once again, thank you very much for following up on this issue. I also need to share that I am now having the same problem with my work email, an enterprise Outlook account. It's weird as mail is coming in on the Blackberry Hub but I can't always send emails.

    Regards,

    Karen
