How do I retain formatting of copied info into new emails?

I used to be able to copy and paste info into a new email and keep the original formatting, but I think since the latest update, all formatting has gone. How do I change this setting so that I can keep the original formatting? (I've tried copy and paste from a draft email or Word document, neither is keeping the original formatting)

    Greetings ClaireHBM,

My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this might be causing you. May I know if you are you able to start the classic Outlook from the Windows Start menu? You can search for Outlook or you can go to the All Apps list where both the classic and the new Outlook should be shown.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,

    Inema

Thanks, but that just gives me a bigger headache - I think it's the new version of Outlook, but there is no toggle button to switch between new and old. I have no clue what POP, IMAP or Exchange is... and the screenshot for private message doesn't look like anything I can see on screen... so I'm no further forward
