    Dear WDM1,

Good day! Thank you for reaching out.

I understand that you have a query on running rules for existing email in your inbox. May I please know if you already have rules configured in your outlook?

If you are using the New Outlook for Mac, click on the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen >Select "Rules" from the drop-down menu.

->In the "Rules" window, select the rule you want to run and click on the "Run" button on the left.

    Please see screenshot below.

If you can't see these options, please let me know whether you are running the new or legacy outlook.

->Also, what is the type of account you are using? Is it Exchange, IMAP or POP?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best Regards,

    Ashraf.

This information is bogus and misleading. It’s all the more shocking that it is coming from a Microsoft agent who should know better. The new Outlook for Mac doesn’t support rules and the only options are to switch to Legacy version and set up the rules all over again which in my case means hundreds of them that I have painstakingly created over the years. Thank you Microsoft and Apple for your monopolistic practices that make our lives so easy and for our government “who are here to help”!

I noticed something when setting up Rules in New Outlook for Mac that might help folks in this thread (or others searching).

I don't think you can run more than 1 rule at a time.

If you setup a rule, and there's ALREADY a rule running, the "run this rule now" option is no longer in the UI. I found this confusing, and I think it was Batuhan is describing. I also can't click on the the "run" arrow in the list of rules while another rule is running, and it's not clear in the UI why I can't press that button.

    Hey Ashraf,

I'm having this same issue but only the play button is missing in my situation.

I can edit, move up or down but I can't seem to run the rule.

Also, when I create a new rule "run this rule now" option is not showing up anymore.

    What should I do?

    Thanks Ashraf,

I am running the new Outlook for Mac. When I click on Tools I only have 2 options: Edit rule or cCeate rule. The rules are not displayed.

If I click on Tools - Rules and open the existing rules then I get the view below. The edit, delete and down arrow are all live and work. The left point arrow, which I assume should start the rule is not active and clicking on it does nothing. Since this is the top rule in the list the up area doesn't work.
