Managing desktop notifications from multiple accounts on one Outlook app

Hello. I have two email accounts logged in on my desktop Outlook app (mine and my boss's). I only want to receive desktop notifications from mine, however. Right now, I have to log out of my boss's account whenever I'm done using it because I don't want to get flooded with its email notifications. However, it takes a couple minutes to add it back on whenever I need it, which is sometimes a problem if I'm in a rush for one reason or another.

Is there a way to ONLY receive desktop notifications for ONE of the email accounts even though both are logged in on the app at the same time?

Thanks!

Follow these steps and see if it will work for you:

How do I turn off Desktop Alerts for an account that I own that isn't my primary email account in Outlook?

You have to disable Desktop alerts in Options, and then create a rule to display alerts on the primary account.

First you need to disable the Desktop Alerts in Outlook.

    1. Click File
    2. Click Options
    3. Click Mail
    4. In the Message Arrival section, uncheck Display a Desktop Alert
    5. Click OK

Then, create a rule in your email account to display alerts for the account you want displayed.

    1. Click File
    2. Click Manage Rules and Alerts
    3. Make sure your inbox is selected in Apply changes to this folder
    4. Click New Rule...
    5. Choose Apply rule on messages I receive and then click Next
    6. Uncheck any conditions and click Next.
    7. Click Yes to the warning about the rule being applied to every mail message received.
    8. Click "display a Desktop Alert" and click Next.
    9. Click Next.
    10. Give it a name if you want and click Finish.

I have the same issue. I have "unclicked" the "Display a Desktop Alert" box for now so that all the emails are not popping up constantly. But this eliminates all notifications whereas I would like to see notifications when I receive emails to my own account.

Right now I just have to remember to check back into my outlook every now and then to see if I have new mail.

I think you can click on my original entry somewhere that you have the same question. I don't know if that will draw more attention to it or not. I haven't gotten a response since the first one, which didn't solve the issue.

Hi, thank you for the response! I found the section you guided me to, but I don't see a "desktop alert settings" button anywhere (see the image below). Are there different versions of the Outlook app?
