We have a shared contact list at work that also has many associated contact groups within it. As we add new to the contact list, how do we add the new contacts to the existing contact groups?

    Good morning Katherine,

We seem to run into an issue where the shared contact list does not show as an address book for anyone except the person who created the list. So maybe we need to backtrack a bit and figure out how to get the shared contact list to show in "From Outlook Contacts" for everyone. I appreciate the assistance.

    Dear GHQ_RI16

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I know the scenario you met. For this, to add a new contact to a shared contact list and then add them to a contact group within the contact list, please follow these steps:

    1. Open Outlook and go to the Contacts folder where the shared contact list is located.
    2. Click on the "New Contact" button in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
    3. Enter the contact's information in the fields provided.
    4. Click on the "Save & Close" button to save the new contact.
    5. To add the new contact to a contact group within the shared contact list, right-click on the contact group and select "Add Members" from the drop-down menu.
    6. In the "Add Members" window, select "From Outlook Contacts" and then select the new contact you just added.
    7. Click on the "Members" button to add the contact to the contact group.
    8. Click on the "OK" button to save the changes.

The new contact should now be added to the shared contact list and the contact group within it.

Hope this can help. If there is any update, please feel free to let me know. Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated.

Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day.

    Sincerely

    Katherine
