How to create an email template file (.OFT) in New Outlook

Hello,

I am trying to use new Outlook to create an email template since the ones from old Outlook are not compatible with new Outlook.

In old Outlook, I go to the file tab to save the message as an .OFT, but there is no option for this in new outlook. I prefer this method over using "My Templates" since you can automatically save attachments and images to an .OFT, but not to "My Template".

How do I save an email template file with attachments that can be used in new Outlook?

Thanks,

J

Hi and that is not accurate, the functions to "My templates" don't exist, i truly truly dislike the new outlook, who decided to remove all these practical bits we are so familiar with that are time savers for us all? Just crazy to me that things get removed and the new outlook is supposed to be great, sorry but it is not. not in the least. Thank you

    Hi Shannah,

    Thank you for your response.

I have used the "My Template" tool before, but I want a file that can save a subject, attachments, and images without having to copy and paste them in each time. In old Outlook, I would use an .oft file, but it seems to be incompatible with new Outlook.

Is there an alternative file that is synonymous with an .oft but can be used in new Outlook?

    Jose

As of now, there is no official release date for the .oft (Outlook template) files feature to be available in the New Outlook The feature was not included in the initial release of the New Outlook for Windows, and Microsoft has not provided a specific timeline for when it will be added.

However, Microsoft is aware of the demand for this feature and has indicated that they are considering it for future updates Users are encouraged to provide feedback on this feature request through the Feedback Portal to help prioritize its development.

For the latest updates on the availability of this feature, you can keep an eye on the official Outlook updates or announcements from Microsoft.

For alternative ways to open OFT files in New Outlook

Outlook Desktop App: If you have access to the traditional Outlook desktop application, you can open .oft files there You can edit the template and then save it again if needed .

Download and Open: You can download the .oft file and then attempt to open it with the desktop version of Outlook This method is suggested if you’re trying to open an .oft file from SharePoint or another online service.

Third-Party Software: There are third-party tools available that can open and edit .oft files. However, be cautious and ensure you trust the software provider before downloading any software.

Convert to Another Format: If you need to edit the content of an .oft file and cannot open it in Outlook, you might consider converting it to another format such as HTML or TXT, which can be edited with a wider range of programs.

you are so right. I dislike that they have removed everything an EA would use to make the job more efficient. what a waste. so disappointed. Microsoft needs to talk with executive assistants if they need help with what to removed and what to leave on the different applications.

My entire team is concerned about this situation! We need OFT back for all client's request. I don't understand why they didn't consider in Outlook the "Outlook File Template"! Lol.
