Hi Rodney Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I will be happy to help. I am a user just like you and only trying to advice/ assist in a best possible way I could resolve your issue.

There are two main ways to import your contacts from the old Outlook (Outlook.com or Outlook 2016) to the new Outlook (Outlook.com or Outlook app):

    1. Exporting and Importing a CSV file:

This method involves exporting your contacts from the old Outlook as a CSV file and then importing that file into the new Outlook. Here's how:

    In the old Outlook:

Go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export. Select Export to a file and click Next. Choose Comma Separated Values (CSV) and click Next. Select the Contacts folder and click Next. Click Browse to choose a location to save the CSV file, then click Next. Click Finish to export the contacts. In the new Outlook:

Go to Manage contacts (People icon) > Import contacts. Select From a CSV file. Click Browse to select the CSV file you exported earlier, then click Open. Click Import to import the contacts. 2. Using the Outlook Import/Export Wizard:

This method uses the built-in Outlook Import/Export Wizard to directly transfer your contacts from the old Outlook to the new Outlook. Here's how:

Open the new Outlook and go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export. Select Import from another program or file and click Next. Choose Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next. Click Browse to locate the PST file containing your old Outlook data (usually in your Documents folder under Outlook Files). Click Open and select Contacts in the list of items to import. Choose how to handle duplicate contacts and click Next. Click Finish to import the contacts.

Additional Tips: Make sure you have the latest version of Outlook installed on both your old and new computers. If you're unsure where your PST file is located, you can search for it on your computer. When importing contacts, you can choose to merge them with existing contacts or create new ones. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Kind regards -Adedayo

I am working with a newly bought (Oct 24) computer. MY old device has a file menu but the new one does not. I think your support info. is outdated. It is not of any help to me.

I followed the first set of instructions to a T twice. I have scores of contacts developed over many years. When I import the .CSV file, I get 17 contacts that display as "name isn't available. File size is 1 kb. No data there.

Hard to believe Microsoft is wasting the time of millions (millions, did I say millions) of people, forcing us to upgrade, and then not automatically transferring our contacts in the upgrade.

I do believe this is the worst experience I have had with Microsoft in 30 plus years of using Office.

    Tom
