How to create an email template file (.OFT) in New Outlook

Hello,

I am trying to use new Outlook to create an email template since the ones from old Outlook are not compatible with new Outlook.

In old Outlook, I go to the file tab to save the message as an .OFT, but there is no option for this in new outlook. I prefer this method over using "My Templates" since you can automatically save attachments and images to an .OFT, but not to "My Template".

How do I save an email template file with attachments that can be used in new Outlook?

Thanks,

J

We also had the option to pin the templates to the taskbar icon which was extremely useful but that isn't even an option with the new outlook.

It looks like Microsoft started to roll out functionality for the .oft templates. However it looks like they do not function properly in the new outlook. When you use the .oft and change the subject (Trying to create a new email thread) it chains them together in the same thread in new outlook. Is there a way to report this bug?

    Hi Jose,

Thank you for contacting us today! As a Microsoft Ambassador, I can help you find self-help solutions for many common issues related to your account, billings or subscriptions.

To create new template in the New Outlook, Open Outlook --> New Mail --> In the new email windows, select My Templates --> Template -->In the title box, give a name for your template --> Enter your template --> Save. You can refer to the screenshot attached.

If you are using simplified ribbon, please kindly click on Three dots --> My Templates.

Once you created your template, you can edit or delete the template. To do this, click the template you want to edit or delete --> Click on edit or Delete icons on the top of the Template. You can refer to the screenshot below.

To use already created email message template, Open Outlook --> New mail --> My Templates --> click on the template you want to send or include in your new email.

Note: this option is may only available for the primary account in new Outlook, please try to use your primary account.

I hope this was helpful and again feel free to contact me with any other questions. I would be very thankful if you could leave a review :)! Thanks, Shannah
