New Microsoft Outlook - Duplicate Sent Messages

Anonymous

I decided to try the new Microsoft Outlook. However, when I sent a message in New Outlook, I noticed that there are two copies of my other sent emails that are saved in my sent items folder.

After this incident, I noticed that there are multiple double of all my sent items in New Outlook.

I started searching for the solution to fix it.  I could not find anything.  Also, I could not find a way to eliminate all the duplicates.

Any solution to stop the duplicates and remove all the duplicates would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

    Hello Marco,

I will be happy to answer your question, I am a Microsoft consumer and independent advisor, so that there is no misunderstanding, this is a public user-to-user support forum. We are users, just like you, who help other users. We do not have access to any user accounts.

Based on the description, you are seeing duplicate of emails that are sent. The reason there are duplicates in the Sent Items folder is that the server automatically creates an item in the Sent Items and Outlook uploads the same item again.

To resolve this issue, kindly follow the steps below:

    1. On the File menu, select Account Settings > Account Settings.
    2. Choose the IMAP, and then select Change.
    3. Choose the Don't save copies of sent items check box.
    4. Select Next, then Done.

The steps above " I pulled from the Microsoft article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/office/imap-sent-messages-are-duplicated-and-unread-in-sent-items-folder-f9cb7d98-b6be-4740-89f8-3b7c2277a615#ID0EBBH=PC"

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Hi Soji,

    Thank you for your response.

I find this commands on old Outlook 365, but I don't find them on New Outlook 365. Could you please let me know where to find them?

I have the same problem and it's extremely frustrating. Most answers given so far are wrong. Most answers says to go to the "File" option. New Outlook does not have a File options. Only the desktop Outlook (that you have to pay for) does. So everyone STOP giving incorrect answers! If anyone has a correct answer then please post it.

This can also be a problem in FILE>OPTIONS>MAIL setting scroll down one page and uncheck "Save Copies of messages in the Sent Items folder" – Only need to change once for all mailboxes!  I ran a test and confirmed this worked for me!

    Hope this helps someone else!

    Hi Soji,

Made the changes in old Outlook 365, but does not affect New Outlook 365.

There is something missing, but I don't know what.
