I wanted to know how I could disable Cached Exchange Mode in the New Outlook app.

All I found is the directions for the old outlook, but not the new one.

Outlook | Windows | New Outlook for Windows | For home

The 180 day limit on the new Outlook offline mode is completely useless for those whose Internet is expensive and not "always on". And who have years of historic data in their Profile that they actively use and access.

This needs the equivalent of the Classic Outlook Cached Exchange Mode - ALL.

    Otherwise it is useless.

Hello, I have subscribed to a google calendar on my 365 outlook app. In attempting to make this calendar my default account, I receive an Mail Delivery Notification stating:

"The selected Outlook data file (.pst) must use the same format as offline Outlook data files (.ost). Select a matching Outlook data file (.pst) or turn off cache mode in the Account Settings."

If, as you say above, "the New Outlook for Windows uses a different technology called "web caching" instead of cache Exchange mode", then how am I supposed to follow the directions to turn off cache mode.

The google account is my primary email account. I also want it to be my primary calendar account. Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Tipton

    Dear SecureCPU,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

I understand your query here, but the New Outlook for Windows app does not support offline data (Cache Exchange mode) to store a copy of your outlook data on your local device. This feature is only available in the classic version of Outlook. Therefore, the new outlook for Windows app doesn't have an option to disable Cached Exchange Mode.

However, the New Outlook for Windows uses a different technology called "web caching" instead of cache Exchange mode. This technology allows users to store data on the server directly and access from there, so that, it is always enabled and cannot be turned off.

If you have any other questions or I have got you wrong, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you for your precious time. Have a nice day.

    Sincerely,

New Outlook for Windows has a 'Cached Exchange Mode'-similar feature called Offline access that stores data on your device when offline.

It was released after the original post and moderator response. A few months back I noticed it in Settings.

You can disable it by going to Settings > General > Offline > toggle off "Enable offline email, calendar, and people".

As a direct result of this change, I cannot use new outlook for groups. Thanks for messing up things again, MS.
