Hello all,
I hope you can forgive the frustrated tone below, as I've been constantly annoyed by this issue for years now. Such is my frustration at the time I have spent this morning trying to resolve it, have now felt compelled to ask this question in the community.
Why is it that, at random, the default settings for paragraph spacing and fonts change on my outlook when composing a new email?
I usually have the bullet point settings set to single line spacing, with email templates set to size 11 font. Appreciate this might be a little unusual but I like to be in direct control over the spacing rather than have it automated. I never deviate from these settings. However, as of this morning, despite the rest of the email conforming to the formatting described above, and no matter how many times I try to correct using the paragraph settings and various combinations of ticking the box for 'don't add space for paragraphs of the same style' and 'set as default' etc, whenever I add a new bullet point, the font defaults to size 12 and double line spacing. I have not changed anything in this email template, and have never changed the default settings. Whilst I can retrospectively correct it to the desired format, whenever I add a new bullet point, font 12 and double line spacing is the result.
For context, this issue has happened on and off for years. My question is not just about actually how to correct the issue (I don't doubt that I am probably missing something, but I can't seem to find my specific issue on this forum), it's also about why the default has changed in the first place. How can I make sure that the formatting defaults NEVER change unless I make the change? Or, what could I be doing that is leading to me unknowingly changing the default formatting? - This issue seems to crop up randomly every few months or so, but I can't pinpoint it to a specific action that I have taken. I am just 'using the product as intended', I'm not changing any of the settings and my MacBook Pro is fully up to date and working flawlessly in all other aspects.
Hoping you can help!
All the best,
Luke
