Can someone explain how Outlook Desktop orders signatures?

I see several old threads that say it is alphabetical or most recently used, mine is neither. My order changes every time I use Outlook and it does not correspond to most recently used, most often used, or any alphabetical system. Can someone explain to me why it is continually reordering without any discernable order?

I find this to be bogus information. The previous Outlook version automatically alphabetized all signatures, no matter how often or how many are used. I use signatures all day every day, and now that I was forced to switch to the new version, they are no longer alphabetized, many were missing and had to be redone, and my main signature for new/replies to messages sometimes doesn't populate when composing. Please fix this. Given the number of emails I send on a daily basis, this is causing a negative impact on time to complete certain tasks.

    ^^AMEN.

I'm in the same boat regarding the number of signatures I rely on + the volume of emails I send, daily. This is a massive drain on productivity, and needs to be rectified stat.

    I agree.

    This information is not helpful.

The core issue is that users cannot order their list of signatures in a practical way.

All Microsoft needs to do is allow signatures to be listed alphabetically or numerically. Users can order their signatures by signature name / title.

We don't care about cross-platform this and syncing updates that. It's irrelevant. The current way Outlook orders signatures is not functional for the USER.

I've got the actual answer to your actual question, tothnich.

Signatures are ordered in the order they were LAST saved in. Once a signature is saved, it is moved to the BOTTOM of the list.

So, a workaround to get them in the order you want is:

    1. Open Signature #1.
    2. Make a minor change.
    3. Click Save.
    4. Open signature #2.
    5. Make a minor change.
    6. Click Save.

    Repeat for all signatures.

Keep in mind if you need to make an ACTUAL minor change to any signature, you'll have to run back through this procedure to reorder them again.

I did this this week and it didn't keep the order for even a day. The re-order problem is without rhyme or reason. With all the signatures I have to use EVERY DAY, this is a problem that is untenable. When the world finally moves to Linux shops, I'll be glad to be rid of all this ignorant and thoughtless nonsense from MS. I'm sorry to have to deliver the bad news about the newest version of Outlook Desktop. :(
