Outlook 365 - Shortcut Naming Convention - How to edit?

I have created several PST data files to file e-mails in Outlook. I have created shortcuts to these in the shortcut pane on the left side.

Some of these shortcuts also include the name of the PST file, while others do not.

In the image below, all shortcuts are to sub-directories in the same "Account" PST file.

Does anyone know the reason why the shortcuts would include the PST filename, and others do not?

Is there a way to edit this?

    Dear, JGreg7

    Thanks for your reply.

Please try following the steps below to create an external PST file and move your important files to the PST file you created.

First, open Outlook, click "Personal Data" in the upper left corner, select "Account Settings" under "Account Information", enter Account Settings - Data File - Click New Data File, and then try to add a shortcut for your own use. to the folder you need. Then, try adding the shortcut you want to set to the folder you want.

Well, the reason why you can't change the name might be due to the sync status of IMAP. I hope the above steps can help you.

If you don’t understand or have any questions, we look forward to your reply.

    Wish you well

    Dear JGreg7.

    Thank you for your reply.

We have understood your question and in order to be able to provide you with some steps we would like to reconfirm the following information:

    1. what is the type of protocol you currently have set up for your email address? (IMAP/POP)
    2. How did you add the PST file to the Outlook shortcut pane? Did you open the Outlook profile directly, or did you use the import/export method?

Also, what version of Outlook are you currently using, Outlook Client or Classic Outlook, e.g. Outlook(new)/Microsoft 365/Office2021HB?

Click on "File - Office Accounts" and take a screenshot of the complete product information (please cover your account information to protect your privacy).

I look forward to hearing from you.

    All the best.

    Dear, JGreg7

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you may be having problems with Outlook not being able to modify the shortcuts and I am really sorry for the inconvenience.

Just to clarify with you, these names were decided before you exported the PST file and not changed after you exported it.

Based on the image you provided, if you want to change the name of the subfolder in the archive folder, you can try renaming the folder by right mouse clicking on the name and see if that resolves your issue.

If this is not the case as I understand it, I would appreciate it if you could tell me the details of the situation, and of course a screenshot would be great.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. I look forward to your reply.

    May you be well.

    Thank you for your response.

The PST file is a local file I created to file e-mails. The PST file name is "Account.pst"

A screen shot of the folder view follows:

In the shortcuts view, the sub-folder names are all included, however, for the directory "Medical", it also includes the name of the PST file (red arrow). If I try to rename the shortcut, it only allows me to change the first part (blue arrow)

The content of each folder is exactly the same - filed e-mails. I created each folder the same way, and copied the e-mails to it the same way. As far as I can tell, the folders and content are essentially the same (different names and different e-mails filed in them of course)

Any idea the reason why only the one shortcuts would include the PST filename? I also have several other PST files I use for different projects with similar shortcut file name issues.
