    Hello Erica K5,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I'm happy assisting you with this request.

Based on your description I understand that you have a trouble in setup your account in Office 365. Kindly if you can clarify more details about the trouble like screenshot or error code, that would be better. Anyway, please checkout the following steps..

    Setup your account:

-Click on File and select Account Settings.

-Click New to create a new email setup.

-Choose Manual setup or additional server types, then select Next.

    -Configure IMAP Settings:

-Select IMAP as the account type.

    Fill in the following details:

    -Your Name: Enter your name.

-Email Address: Your Telstra email address.

    -Logon Information:

    -Username: Your Telstra email address.

    -Password: Your Telstra email password.

-Untick the box for Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA).

    Server Information:

    -Account Type: IMAP.

    -Incoming Mail Server (IMAP): imap.telstra.com.

    -Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.telstra.com.

-Mail to keep offline: User-defined (all by default).

    Advanced Settings:

    -Click More Settings.

-Go to the Outgoing Server tab.

-Tick the box for My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

    -Under Server Port Numbers:

    -Incoming server (IMAP): 993.

-Choose SSL for the encrypted connection.

    -Outgoing server (SMTP): 465.

-Again, choose SSL for the encrypted connection.

    -Click OK and then Next.

    Test Your Settings:

-Outlook will test your email settings.

    -Once it’s done, select Close.

    -Finally, click Finish.

I look forward to your response,

    Best regards,

Thanks for responding. This is what I have tried - and am wanting to be able to transfer all my folders and subfolder from Outlook before it become Outlook 365 - but cannot get to the outgoing mail Server Port to change from port setting of 587 to server port setting of 465 which is Telstra related.

    Launched Microsoft 365 Personal -

    • From the menu on the sidebar I have selected Outlook - from what I can see I cannot access the outgoing mail settings
    • I want to get access to the outgoing mail settings but cannot locate them in this area.
    • I also tried Settings but as you can see there are no Accounts in this area.

    Launched Microsoft Outlook NEW -

    • Same layout as above
    • Went to Settings - Account do appear on this area but they only go to the Incoming Mail - can't access Outgoing Mail
    • I deleted my account and added it again
    • I could access the IMAP configurations but not the SMTP configurations there was no option for the SMTP configs it automatically defaults to the port setting of 587 whereas I require Port setting of 465.

    Outlook.com

    • In frustration I have manually set up the old Outlook where it does have a File selection and can go through the process and change the outgoing mail to 465 and it works.

I want to use the newer features of Outlook 365 but without being able to send and receive emails - what's the point. I have a number of subfolder that I use so I can distribute into the subfolders by category and relevant information.

Hope you can assist as it's really frustrating not being able to do a simple thing.

    Kind regards

    Erica K5
