hate the new outlook that is replacing win mail. any alternative that is similar to win mail that is simple and fast to load?

this is probably worse than the decision to remove group all at task bar and so many people refused to upgrade to win 11 because of that. what is Ms thinking?

I also hate New Outlook. Windows 10 Mail was great. Lightweight, fast, all my email addresses worked, sync'd across all my devices. Google Contacts sync'd so I only had to add a contact in one spot. No Ads! I have 3 email accounts that don't work anymore in New Outlook that were fine, for years, in Mail and you screwed up a good thing and forced me into something annoying and that decreases work efficiency. Someone should be fired.

Totally agree with all the feedback above - the new outlook is a _BIG_ step backwards - too slow and clunky, and more button clicks to achieve the same result. If you are going to upgrade to a new version it needs to be better, faster, and easier to use!

Casper, I was not aware that one could still opt to use Classic Outlook. If so, please advise how. I was simply informed about ten days ago that I was being forced into New Outlook.

Classic Outlook was in my opinion not ideal, but the New Outlook is simply horrible. You of course would not know the answer to this question, but why would Microsoft decide to turn off a perfectly good app and force millions of people to use what any objective observer would agree is a simply awful alternative? Microsoft's assurance that New Outllook is "still under development" misses the whole point: why deploy it in the first place?

I am old enough to remember the "new Coke" debacle. Looks like we're in for a similar ride.

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

The new Outlook app is just a web app. You're accessing your mailbox using a web browser API rather than a real client. Microsoft is working on improving it, but I don't think it's really ready for prime-time yet. You can make suggestions in the Outlook feedback portal here: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/89a8afa3-2e1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472 .

You asked about alternate mail clients. One of the most popular is Thunderbird, but eM Client is a good choice as well. Both are free, but eM Client is free only for personal use with up to two accounts. It can support Exchange, IMAP and POP. Thunderbird doesn't handle Exchange so it can't sync non-mail data like calendar and contacts, although it does support CalDAV and CardDAV so you can add calendars and contacts that can be published with those protocols and you can see them in Thunderbird. It does have local calendar and contacts, though, if I recall.

It is awful and a cynical attempt to make us pay a sub to remove the adverts!

Of more importance even than that. I have now lost access to my contacts list. They may well still be hiding in my pc but so far have not been able to locate them. If they had warned me I could at least have made a csv file. Luckily I still have them on my ipad, just need to see how I can download that. It is a terrible thing to do.
