Where is the browser setting in New Outlook?

I'm using "New" Outlook. When I clicked on links, it was bringing them up in Edge every time. My default browser is Chrome. I couldn't find anywhere in the "New" Outlook where I could set the browser. I switched over to the classic view and went through the process of changing the browser. It was already set to use the default browser instead of Edge. I switched back to the New Outlook, and what? Its now magically using the default browser.

Where, exactly, is the browser setting exposed in the New Outlook?

Regards,

Barbara Jensen

I found at least one way to do it in Windows 11.

Go to Settings, Apps, Default apps. There is a quick way and a more robust way to do this.

At the top of the Default Apps section, you s/see "Set a default for a file type or link type". Type "https" in that field. Click "Choose a default" below that field. Select Google Chrome. Repeat this for link type "http".

The long way is to scroll to the bottom of the Default Apps section. Under "Related Settings", you s/see "Choose defaults by link type". Scroll down until you find what you want to set. In my case I found "HTTP" and "HTTPS". You can then click the field and select your browser.

    Hope this helps

    Hi

If you have already set your default browser on your computer settings to for example putting "Chrome" as your default browser in the windows setting.

In the New Outlook app you need to open settings (Top right corner) and switch to these settings.

    Go to "General"

    Go to "Files and links"

Under "Open Hyperlinks from outlook in:"

    Switch to "Default Browser"

You might want to open and close outlook, see if this helps.

    Best Regards

    David

    i Laura,

I also was just facing this issue. It seems that Microsoft might have removed this option in Outlook settings in favor of changing default apps via Windows Settings.

I found the easiest way to change this is by going to Windows Settings>Default Apps>From here, find Google Chrome under "Set defaults for applications">When you open Google Chrome default app settings it should look like this:

Once you set Chrome as default browser here, when you next attempt to open a hyperlink in Outlook or any other app it will open in Chrome.

    Hope this helps.

Will someone please answer the question of how to set the default browser in the NEW...NEW...NEW...NEW Outlook? If I can't change this, I'll just go back to the old.

    Thank you
