    Hi Jennifer Butz,

    Good day.

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist.

To restore the default settings in Desktop Outlook, you can create a new Outlook profile which should reset the settings to their original state. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Open the Control Panel and select the Mail app.
    3. Choose Show Profiles.
    4. Click Add to create a new profile and give it a name.
    5. Configure your email accounts as needed.
    6. Set the new profile as the default for Outlook.

This process will reset your Outlook to its default settings, including the view and fonts.

If the issue persists kindly share your Outlook version for further troubleshooting.

We are looking forward to your reply. Thank you for your cooperation.

    Best Regards,

Have a similar issue with the web based version of outlook. My ribbon was HUGE. I saw on another thread that if you chose a particular option (can't remember), that the ribbon bar would reduce in size. Well, in my case it's totally gone.

Another issue is in my inbox I could see the garbage can and the pin for an email with an attachment just to the right of the header of the sender. Now those two idiots are at the very far right of the screen and I can't move them close to their original location.

Now to the so-called "FIX." To open an entirely new email to reset the outlook back to factory defaults? Crazy! Microsoft Engineers, get it together and put an option in the software that allows us end users to do so without such an extreme "FIX." Another bug I have (yet another closed thread) in regards to US vs Canadian Language grammar. Get it right. Have Canadian Language OS and other software destined for the Canadian market reflect such by using CANADIAN spelling and punctuation, please?

    With respect,

    G. R. H.

So by creating a new profile, wouldn't you lose all your rules? Isn't there a way to just reset the settings to default without starting completely over?

Microsoft Support guided me to a simple solution. Open the body of the email with the small font. Press CTL+ "+". (repeat to increase the font size).
