In the "new" Outlook, I can no longer attach emails to Calendar items, even when I have created the item. Is there are work around for this?

This is a major limitation. I assume I will need to go back to the legacy version.
Sorry, it's really hard to understand how something so simple was relegated.

I used this feature all the time--I'm really disappointed to find I can't do it anymore.

    I just found a solution I think!

I went to the top and selected "forward as an attachment" - then it pulled up a new email with the attachment. So then I just grabbed the attachment in the new email and dragged it into the calendar event I was making.

    Dear mk.mountainmomma,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

I have been testing your query from my end and based on my test result, it doesn't seem feasible to attach email to previously created appointments/meetings in the new Outlook at the moment. However, when you create new item, there is a feature to reply all by meeting or create meeting from the email you want to attach. To do this, you can open the email you want to send/attach to calendar -->Click on three dot on the ribbon -->Meeting. This will attach the email and open new meeting windows, then you can enter the required information and send the meeting with the email. Also, you can reply all by meeting. You can refer to the screenshot below.

I understand your query here and I do apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, if you heavily rely on this feature, you may consider toggling out of the new Outlook for Windows preview for now. In the meantime, since New Outlook is still under active development, I will surely raise your concern to our Product Development Team and hopefully this can be included in the future updates. Also, we sincerely recommend you send your concern as an idea on our in-app New Outlook feedback site. To provide feedback, go to HelpFeedback. You can refer to Contact support and provide feedback within the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support. Our Product Development Team are committed to enhancing the customer experience by continually examining suggestions to include in the design and development of future product upgrades based on your suggestions. Hopefully your suggestion will help many users in the future.

Thank you for your precious time and understanding. For other questions, feel free to add your post in the Microsoft Community team.

Stay safe and healthy. Have a good day!

    Sincerely,

    Libeamlak | Microsoft Community Moderator

Are there plans to address this loss of functionality anytime soon? While I do appreciate the new 'meetings insights' section in Outlook invites which tries to address this, I am a heavy user of Outlook invites with attachments for project meetings. As far as I can tell there is no ability to attach other Outlook emails nor separate docs unless I'm missing something.
