Hello! Jax Lange
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community
I understand that you’re facing difficulties with 2-step verification on your Microsoft account, and I’m here to assist you. I would like to inform you at the beginning that Microsoft account recovery is managed by a completely automated server, and we do not have manual access to it. Microsoft takes the security and privacy of our customers very seriously. We are committed to protecting your personal information, and the meticulous account recovery process is intended to protect you from any possible malicious activity. For now, please allow me to do the best I can to help you with the process.
Allow me to ask:
- Can you still sign into your account in https://account.microsoft.com/ ?
- When did you change/update your phone number on your account?
- I would like to know what @domain and who is hosting your email account? example for @domains: Gmail.com, Yahoo.com, Outlook.com/Hotmail.com
- May I know if the account is for Work/School use? or Personal (Hotmail/Outlook.com) use?
- Do you use password, PIN or other sign-in options for signing on to your account on the device?
Let’s work through this step by step:
- Web Browser Method:
- Sign in to your Microsoft account using a web browser.
- Go to the Security settings page.
- Look for the Two-step verification section and click on it.
- Choose Turn off two-step verification.
- Microsoft Authenticator App Method:
- If you have set up your work or school account in the Microsoft Authenticator app, follow these steps:
- Go to the Security info page (you can find it by signing in to the Microsoft 365 portal at office.com).
- Select Add sign-in method.
- Choose Authenticator app and follow the on-screen instructions to scan the QR code with your mobile device.
- Approve the notification through the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Select Save.
- Removing Account from Microsoft Authenticator App:
- If you want to delete your account from the Microsoft Authenticator app:
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Select the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings and choose Remove account.
- Turn Off Two-Step Verification Prompt on a Trusted Device:
- Depending on your organization’s settings, you may see a checkbox that says “Don’t ask again for (number) days” when performing two-factor verification.
- If you’ve selected this option to stop two-factor verification prompts and then lose your device or suspect it’s compromised, consider having Microsoft 365 sign you out of all your devices to protect your account.

Please note that the 30days is the estimated days for the automated server to approve the change on your account. Just to set your expectations that Microsoft accounts are managed by an automated server in which we do not have any manual access to this, and we have limited tools for checking your account and subscription details in Community.
Remember that turning off two-step verification reduces security, so proceed with caution. If you encounter any issues, please let me know, and I’ll guide you further.
Thank you,
Vince
