    Dear DebiFarrell

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

To turn off conversation threading in Outlook, follow these steps:

    1. Open Outlook:
      • Launch the Outlook desktop application.
    2. Open the View Tab:
      • Click on the "View" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
    3. Disable Show as Conversations:
      • In the "Messages" group, find and uncheck the "Show as Conversations" checkbox.
      • When prompted, choose "This folder" or "All mailboxes" depending on your preference.

A red X in an email message usually means that an image or other content in the message has been blocked. This can happen for the following reasons:

    • Security settings: To protect user privacy, email clients block external images from loading by default to prevent potential malicious content.
    • Content filtering: Some mail servers or clients filter out certain content in emails, causing images to not be displayed.

If your issue is with images not displaying in emails (red X boxes), ensure the following settings:

Trust Center Settings in Outlook :

    • Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings.
    • Under "Automatic Download," ensure "Don't download pictures automatically in standard HTML email messages or RSS items" is unchecked.
    1. Manually load images: There is usually a prompt at the top of the email that allows users to click "Show images" or "Trust this sender" to load the blocked content.
    2. Check filters and spam settings: Sometimes, mail clients may mark certain messages as spam and block their content from being displayed.

I understand your frustration with these settings, but hopefully, this will resolve the issues you're facing with Outlook. If you continue to experience problems, please provide more details so we can further assist you.

    Best Regards
