Hi,

I have an issue where whenever I want to use quick print in outlook it prints to my Cab Mach1 label printer and prints the document on tiny labels. However, if I use the normal print feature it prints and has the correct printer already selected. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer many times now and every time it does the same thing. I turned off Let Windows Manage Your Devices. and have set the correct printer as default many times but still it comes out on the label printer. I am on windows 11 and have recently had my hard drive replaced.

I am ripping my hair out now! any advice is appreciated. again it only happens when using quick print.

Thanks

    Hi Eleni,

Thank you for your helpful tips that is the best answer to the issue I have seen!

the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Print option seems to have done the job and it works fine now !"

    thank you very much :)

    Kind regards,

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue where Quick Print in Outlook defaults to your label printer.

Here are some steps to help resolve this issue:

Do you have Adobe reader or another PDF app installed and configured as the default?

Open Settings, search for default apps, select it and then choose Set default by app - find your PDF app. Select it and click Manage. Make sure it has all the defaults available for PDF.

Also please navigate to File>Print>Print Option to check whether the check box next to Print attached files is ticked. For your reference:

Allowing to use Quick Print in Outlook with the correct printer, rather than the label maker:

    1. Open Outlook and go to File > Options > Advanced.
    2. Scroll down to the "Print" section.
    3. Click on the "Print Settings" button.
    4. In the "Print Settings" window, select the correct printer (not the label maker) from the list.
    5. Click the "Set as Default" button.
    6. Uncheck the box that says "Use default printer for Quick Print".
    7. Select the correct printer from the "Quick Print" dropdown menu.
    8. Click "OK" to save changes.

    Resetting Outlook's printer settings

To reset Outlook's printer settings, you can try the following steps:

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    3. Type "regedit" and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    4. Navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Print

(Note: The "16.0" might be different depending on your Outlook version)

    1. Right-click on the "Print" key and select "Delete".
    2. Click "Yes" to confirm the deletion.
    3. Close the Registry Editor.
    4. Restart Outlook.

This will reset Outlook's printer settings to their default values, which should remove any corrupted or incorrect settings that might be causing the issue.

Note: Before making any changes to the registry, it's always a good idea to backup your registry settings by exporting the key you're about to modify. To do this, right-click on the key and select "Export", then save the file to a safe location.

Also, if you're not comfortable editing the registry, you can try resetting Outlook's settings through the Outlook application itself:

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Go to File > Options > Advanced.
    3. Scroll down to the "Reset" section.
    4. Click on the "Reset Settings" button.
    5. Select "Reset all settings" and click "OK".

This will reset all of Outlook's settings, including printer settings, to their default values.

    Test with Another User Profile:

    • Create a new user profile in Windows and set up Outlook in that profile. Test if the quick print issue persists in the new profile.
    • This can help determine if the issue is related to your user profile settings.

    Reinstall Outlook:

    • As a last resort, consider reinstalling Outlook. This can reset any corrupted settings that might be causing the issue.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with Outlook's quick print feature defaulting to your label printer. If the problem persists, providing more details or any specific error messages can help in further troubleshooting.

We hope these steps help resolve the issue. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out.

    Sincerely,
