Is there a way to click into previously replied to emails in the email chain to have them pop up and see the original email and all it's attachments? I know you can click to find related but that doesn't always find the email and I can see it right there in the email chain I just can't get to it

I wonder if Microsoft has ever considered how people use emails in their work life... Outlook is an absolutely terrible platform.

    Dear Gray Jacobsen-Carkeet

    Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are glad to assist!

Based on your description, I understand you concern with unable to find attachments in email chain.

May I know what version of Outlook What version of Outlook do I have? - Microsoft Support? Is it new Outlook or classic Outlook?

If you are using classic Outlook, you may use Show as Conversations feature. Go to View > check Show as Conversations > All mailboxes.

Click on the triangle/expand icon of the email chain to see the corresponding attachments next to the original messages.

On the other hand, you can find attachments from the Search Bar.

    • Choose the email chain and click on the Search box from the top side of the app.
    • Select Current Mailbox from the drop-down next to the Search bar.
    • Type hasattachment:yes
    • Hit Enter. You’ll see all the emails with original attachments from the selected Outlook email thread.

If you have other questions, please feel free to let me know, I will continue to assist you.

Thanks for your precious time and your understanding would be highly appreciated. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

I have the new outlook. I put hasattachments in the search bar and it brings up the email chain that the original email with attachments came from but the original email with the attachment is not there in the chain and does not seem to be anywhere to be found. I checked deleted emails and nothing.

    Any suggestions?

(Do Not listen to these Microsoft re pliers). From your Inbox in Hotmail, search for the email you are looking for (ie, clilck on the "From" box and type the sender name). At the bottom of this page there's a box that says, "Attachments" then click OK. That should bring in the older attachments to the search results.
