Searching the Online Archive in Outlook for Mac

I have one of my users who we have needed to provide access to a Online Archive with his mailbox. He is a Mac user - I'm not sure whether he is using Legacy or New Outlook for Mac at present, or if this would make any difference. We have been able to setup some rules to move some of his vast inbox into the Online Archive to reduce some space, but have hit an issue that we don't seem to be able to search the Online Archive using Outlook for Mac. We have selected All Mailboxes, but the search doesn't seem to include messages in the Online Archive in the search.

We have a workaround of having him search using OWA, so we know the messages do exist in the Online Archive, but the user would prefer not to have to run a search via OWA each time.

Does anyone have any experience of using the Online Archive with Outlook for Mac? Is it possible to search the Online Archive, and if so, how have you achieved this?

    Based on your description, I understand your query about searching the Online Archive in Outlook for Mac.

    According to investigation and tests on my end, while in New Outlook for Mac you can search the Online Archive folder directly with no problem (like in OWA), it seems in Legacy Outlook for Mac you can only search mails in online archive folder by selecting Current Folder option when searching. So would you please kindly try switching to the new Outlook for Mac or searching like in below screenshot?

    We were still struggling with the legacy Outlook for Mac to search in the Online Archive, but using the new Outlook for Mac, we were able to search satisfactorily. Thanks for your response.

    Thank you for your reply. I think we may have tried some of those things and it still didn't work, but when I can next get with the user to test on his Mac, I will try them again, and also confirm which version of Outlook he is running.
