outlook synchronizing subscribed subfolders not working

hi, My laptop is getting emails but my PC is not, so Outlook is not synchronizing. I tired the below option 1 to fix it and it is now working. Do I just leave the account settings now as advised in option 1?

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Your Account Settings:
    • Open Outlook.
    • Go to File > Options > Advanced > Send/Receive.
    • Click on the Send/Receive button, then click Edit.
    • Find your account and uncheck the option “Get folder unread count for subscribed folders.”
    • Under Received mail items, check the option “Use the custom behavior defined below.”
    • In the window that displays your IMAP folders, select Inbox and leave the others unchecked.
    • Click OK and then exit out of options.
    • Perform a send/receive to test if there’s any improvement.
  2. Create a New Outlook Profile:
  3. Restart and Update Outlook:
    • Restart the Outlook application.
    • Close Outlook and all associated processes.
    • Wait a few minutes and then relaunch Outlook.

hi, I had a few sync errors in the sync issues folder. The last few days I have had sync issues so there were alot of errors of the last few days where folders could not sync. It seems to be working now after changing those settings, so will monitor it

I have downloaded the registry file, what do I do with this registry file now it has downloaded?

Hi, I'm Diane and I'm happy to help you today.

Do I just leave the account settings now as advised in option 1?

I would - when you open other folders they will sync. Unless you move mail into the folders from other computers or using rules on the server, you won't have new mail in those folders (and probably not unread mail). If you have a lot of folders to sync, it can be slow to sync.

Or you can try changing the setting and see if it works again...

Two things I usually check when mail isn't syncing:

    1. Do you have any sync issues? Look in the Sync issues folder in the Folder navigation pane.

Use Ctrl+6 to open the Folder list pane if the buttons are on the bottom. If your Outlook navigation buttons are in a vertical bar on the left, click the bottom icon in the vertical bar and choose Folder. To switch back to the Mail pane, click the Mail button or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+1.

Errors will be in red text in the Sync Issues folder. If you have a few a day it's not an issue, but a large number could mean problems.

Some errors are meaningless. Things like message count not the same online and in count. This happens when you delete a message and is fixed on the next sync. Or a sync error when you close outlook. They can be ignored.

Right click on the folder and Empty it to clear the entries after reviewing the newest ones.

    2. Do you open and close outlook frequently? Outlook doesn't always close properly when you have an IMAP account in your profile and this can cause Outlook to have sync issues. There is a registry key to use as a workaround. If you don't want to edit the registry, I have a ready-to-use registry file available https://www.slipstick.com/doit/AllowLOGOUT.reg

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\IMAP DWORD: AllowLOGOUTWithoutOK Value: 1

Let me know how it goes, I'm here to help you further if needed.
