Oh. I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

If I understand correctly, you received an email and you want to know if it is truly from Microsoft before taking any action.

You can analyse the email with message header analyzer: Take the following steps to do that:

1. Open the message.
2. Click on the three dots (More Actions) on the message window.
3. Go to View and select Message details.
4. Scroll to From and you will see the email address of the sender.

For a detailed report, copy everything in the message details, open this link through your browser https://mha.azurewebsites.net/. Then paste everything you copied from the message details and click on Analyze headers.

This will show you details of the email in sections. You can view the details of the sender.

The email said you should update your security information. If you want to update your security information, you can do it through account.microsoft.com Click on Security the go to Advanced security section and click on Get started. Once the window opens, you can update your security information there.

I recommend that you don't click on any link in the email.

Please let me know if you need further clarification on this.

This is what the email is about

Update your sign-in technology before September 16^th^, 2024to maintain email access.
The safety and security of your information is top priority for Microsoft. To help keep your account secure, Microsoft will no longer support the use of third-party email and calendar apps which ask you to sign in with only your Microsoft Account username and password. To keep you safe you will need to use a mail or calendar app which supports Microsoft’s modern authentication methods. If you do not act, your third-party email apps will no longer be able to access your Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live.com email address on September 16th.

Hello Richard,

My name is Rita and I am happy to assist you with your query.

The email address that you intended to share was not uploaded for security reasons.

However, to verify if an email address is valid, try the following options:

1. You can search the email address on either Copilot or Google.
2. You can use the email checker tool by clicking on this link: https://captainverify.com/mail-tester.html Please note that this is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.'
3. Generally, any email address with a name followed by a domain is seen as valid. Even scammers can also have valid email addresses.

Be careful of the information you share with an unfamiliar email address.

Stay Safe, Rita.
