Using Outlook for iOS in business environments for email and scheduling
Dear amber smith4
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I can understand the confusion you are experiencing with your current problem.
I would like to confirm with you what kind of e-mail account you are using? (Outlook/Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo)
For the problem you are experiencing, you can consider the following options:
Check your network connection: Make sure your iPhone is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data.
Restart your iPhone: Sometimes, simply restarting the device will resolve the connection issue.
Delete and re-add mail accounts:
Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
Click on your Outlook account and then click Delete Account to remove your existing Outlook or Hotmail account.
Click Add Account > Outlook.com again to add an Outlook or Hotmail Microsoft account.
Change the password for your e-mail account: Sometimes a password change may resolve connection issues.
Move email to another folder: Try moving the email to another folder and then synchronize it again.
Contact your Exchange administrator (for Outlook emails): If you are using Outlook emails, contact your Exchange administrator to check the server settings.
Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Check Firewall and Security Software: Make sure your iPhone is not blocked from accessing the server by a firewall or security software. You can temporarily disable them and try connecting again.
Change DNS settings: Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and click on the Wi-Fi network you're connected to. In the DNS section, select Manual and enter 8.8.8.8 or another reliable DNS server address.
Check server settings: Make sure your mail server is set up correctly. You can contact your mail provider or system administrator for more detailed server settings information.
Use another mail app: Try using another mail app, such as Apple Mail or another third-party mail app, to see if you can successfully connect to the server.
Update the iOS version: Make sure your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Sometimes an update can fix connection issues.
If the above solutions don't work, you can also try changing the host name to “smtp.live.com” or logging into your Outlook account directly through your browser and checking if the problem is restored after you're done
If the above options do not resolve the issue, please let me know if I am unable to send the message and I will continue to process it for you once I receive it.
Feel free to text back if you need further help.
Best wishes
