There is no "delete" option when trying to delete previously deleted/declined calendar events showing up in new Outlook, so how can I delete them?

There is no "delete" option when trying to delete old calendar events in Outlook online (outlook.live.com), so how can I delete them? Following the guide at

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-modify-or-delete-a-meeting-request-or-appointment-in-outlook-com-541383fd-35b7-49a6-b4c8-2ee75af2f40a doesn't help as there is no "Delete" option shown. In outlook online (outlook.live.com, Firefox web browser) the only options shown are "Private" and "duplicate event":

It's even worse in New Outlook for Windows (windows 10 app)!

On every Thursday, it has created a false recurring event, as seen below, titled "Jules and Jess":

When I right-click it, there is a Delete option:

Regardless of if I click to Delete "This event" or click "All events in the series":

It APPEARS to delete it:

But then, 30 seconds later, the event reappears, as if I've done nothing:

ALSO interesting/frustrating is that there are some false events that show up in the Windows 10 New Outlook app which do not appear in the web browser on Microsoft 365 online!

Where are these programs pulling these outdated, previously deleted/declined events from? If I can find where they are, I can delete them, but I have no idea where the outdated backup or whatever this is pulling from is located.

None of these false events exist in the old Outlook 2016 program I have installed on Windows 10 if I switch back to that, but it periodically freezes now (pretty often, enough to be a major usability problem, which is why I've been trying to use New Outlook).

NONE of these work on 365 online (outlook.live.com) as there is no Delete option:

  1. Delete Events Individually:

a. Open Outlook and go to your Calendar.
b. Locate the event you want to delete.
c. Click on the event to open it.
d. Click the "Delete" button or press the Delete key on your keyboard.
e. Confirm the deletion.

  1. Delete Multiple Events:

a. Open Outlook and go to your Calendar.
b. Press and hold the Ctrl key (Cmd on Mac).
c. Click on each event you want to delete to select multiple events.
d. Release the Ctrl key.
e. Right-click on one of the selected events and choose "Delete."

  1. Use Outlook on the Web:

a. If you are using the web version of Outlook (Outlook on the Web), you can delete multiple events more easily.
b. Open Outlook on the Web.
c. Go to your Calendar.
d. Click on the first event you want to delete.
e. Scroll down to the last event you want to delete, and while holding the Shift key, click on that event.
f. All events between the first and last selected events will be highlighted.
g. Click the "Delete" button.

I'm fine with registry hacks or whatever crazy desperate moves are necessary. This is ruining my productivity to have old, long-ago removed/declined events suddenly populating my calendar.

NO. Nothing has worked. I just stopped using my computer nearly completely because it's been completely useless lately. I've just been using my calendar on my phone because I can't depend on anything on the computer anymore. I can't even highlight text or drag windows dependably on that computer anymore. I don't know what the problem is. I think that they're 🔩ing us out of being able to use Windows 10 completely by adding things that are not compatible with it, but I will not be buying windows 11 - my system isn't compatible with it and I won't be upgrading anything by force. It's ridiculous. My phone does almost everything I need, so I only use the computer for video/photo editing now. Good on Microsoft for making desktops so useless that they are losing their customer base to Android.

    Dear Phaewryn

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you're facing a frustrating situation with outdated calendar events stubbornly reappearing in both Outlook online and the new Outlook for Windows. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

    • Try checking all of your devices that are logged into this account, disconnecting from the network for more than 30 seconds, and logging back in to see if the problem persists.
    • Clear Cache and Data: Sometimes, these outdated events could be stored in the cache or temporary files. Try clearing the cache and data for both Outlook online and the new Outlook app. This can often be done through the settings or preferences menu of the respective applications.
    • Check Sync Settings: Ensure that your calendar sync settings are configured correctly. If there's any sync issue, it might be pulling in old data from a previous sync. Try toggling the sync settings off and then back on again to force a refresh.
    • Use Outlook on Different Devices: Since you mentioned that the outdated events don't appear in Outlook 2016 on Windows 10, try using Outlook on a different device or platform to see if the issue persists. This can help narrow down whether it's a specific issue with the new Outlook versions.

Remember to back up any important calendar data before attempting any measures like registry hacks. Hopefully, one of these steps will help you regain control of your calendar and restore your productivity.

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

I hope these steps help address your concerns. Let me know if you need any further assistance or guidance.

    Best Regards
