my hotmail wasn't syncing on my macbook air, so I had removed it and tried to add it again, it wasn't working under other mail account kept saying 'unable to verify account name and password' so, I have used microsoft exchange which sorted my email out. But with this issue I have now lost my notes, they are not showing up on my apple notes anymore. I can see there are notes on my outlook when I log in to the browser however none are displaying. can I have some help on this, my notes are important

    Hi Ulrica,

Thank you for your help. With help of someone who had the same issue in a different forum, she mentioned to login into sticky notes, I did so on my iPhone and they showed up. It didn’t show up on my laptop browser though. I have managed to finally retrieve them. This is the link: https://www.onenote.com/stickynotes incase anyone else has this issue please share this with them.

Thank you for all the help and support.

    Nikita

    Dear Ulrica,

Unfortunately that isn’t working. These notes were created on Apple notes and stored on a Hotmail named folder on the notes app in my MacBook. I’m unable to understand even logging in with Microsoft exchange now that my notes don’t even show up though the email is the same?

Apple has no way of finding this, they said it’s to do with Microsoft as it’s stored with the Microsoft servers.

I have tried searching it via finder but nothing comes up.

    Thank you

    Dear np999,

I just viewed the same case, you mentioned that you can see the numbers in the notes folder on the web side but it opens with no content, please try retrieving the notes and dragging them to your inbox to see if it opens correctly

    Hi Ulrica,

Thank you for your message. I shall try that but I just wanted to double check as when I added my Hotmail account to my MacBook, I added it via other and other mail account (as outlook isn’t an option on my MacBook) so the notes folder were named Hotmail. Do I still search in finder using outlook or Hotmail instead?

Unfortunately there isn’t any backup under Time Machine.

    Thank you

    Dear np999,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

I understand that you've encountered a situation where your Outlook notes were lost due to reconfiguration, and I'm sorry to hear that.

Under normal synchronization conditions, Outlook notes are synchronized to the server. According to your description, since you're unable to see these notes on the server-side (i.e., the web version), it indicates that they were not properly synchronized. Therefore, the only way to retrieve these notes would be to search for local backup files on your current MAC device:

    1. Check Outlook Data Files:
    • Open Finder.
    • Go to /Users/YourUsername/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/.
    • Look for a folder named "Outlook Notes." Your notes may be stored here.
    1. Restore Backups:
    • If you have Time Machine backups, you can try restoring the Outlook data file from the backup.
    • Open Time Machine.
    • Navigate to the date and time of the backup and locate the Outlook data file in the path mentioned above.
    • Restore the file and then re-add it to your Outlook account.

If all local files fail to contain these notes, unfortunately, it's highly likely that they may no longer be recoverable. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate you spend your time working on this issue.  I wish you all the best.

    Best Regards,
