Is deleting a meeting from the calendar the same thing as declining it?

When accessing the Outlook calendar, right-clicking a meeting, and selecting "Delete" (not "Decline") does that result in the meeting being declined? Will the meeting organizer and attendees see me as having declined the invite?

    It USED TO BE TRUE!

HOWEVER, the morons at Micrsosloth now FORCE YOU TO "DELETE and DECLINE" with NO OPTION JUST TO DELETE!!!!!

This is the STUPIDEST of their MANY, COUNTLESS STUPID ideas and changes NO ONE WANTS!!!!!

People get BOMBARDED with invites from distribution lists and large 365 Groups, MOST of which are totally IRRELEVANT to the end users on those large lists. Couple this new brainless feature with the longstanding MORONIC feature that AUTOMATICALLY adds every !@#$%^&*I( calendar invite to your calendar, and you can see why we need ONLY DELETE back, ASAP!

As a large organization, Microshaft should KNOW BETTER, but nope, same in your face trash that NO ONE wants. They learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from "Clippy" and its fiery decent into pre-meme laughability and the madness it foisted on all Office users...typical MS, sadly.

I just want to delete without notifying anyone. It is stupid that I can't delete but have to "delete and decline".

    Hello Jacob522,

    Good morning!

Thank you for publishing in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

No, deleting a meeting from the calendar is not the same thing as declining it. When you delete a meeting from your calendar, it will be removed from your calendar, but the meeting organizer and attendees will not receive any notification that you have declined the meeting. If you want to decline a meeting, you should select "Decline" instead of "Delete". This will send a notification to the meeting organizer and attendees that you will not be attending the meeting.

We look forward to your reply. We will continue to assist you based on the information you provide. I sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation.

    Sincerely

Not helpful. No apparent way to delete from my calendar. All it does is have me despise Microsoft . . .
